PLAY IN PROGRESS #PIP by ABENK ALTER
I came across this Indonesian artist randomly while going through ‘explore’ Instagram page. His name is Abenk Alter, and he’s no stranger in Indonesia’s E-World.
I hooked on his painting at the first sight looking at them on his instagram, much because he’s using a technique that looks alike my all time favorite pop artist; New York’s KEITH HARING.
The Fast Lines, as he describes how he makes his signatures artwork, are eclectic to see -- in monochrome, or vibrant colours. Every lines mean something, and those perfect, continues, undisconnected lines are always made up to an element of thought that spills out by the artist, Abenk Alter, in a unique semi-abstract way ; which any rookie Connoisseur, could still enjoys his work by their reflects of sight.
I finally got a chance to come by to his exhibition in Jakarta -- somewhere in Summer 2017, right the next day after Eid Celebration.
the exhibition titled PLAY IN PROGRESS a collaborative works of four local artist, in various medium; UV lighting, paint, board, digital screen dan graphic visual. Taking the teaching of Confucius teaching, the artist believes that when we do what we love, working becomes playing, and playing becomes absolutely correct.
Once I bought a house to myself, I definitely will have his work hanging on my biggest wall in the room.
