Review: The Long Wait for Tomorrow  by Joaquin Dorfman

I picked up this book honestly not knowing anything about it. The cover might I say for myself is an interesting one. I literally just expected for this to be some fantasy novel. When it turns out, it’s just a stone cold shot of reality.

Characters: Patrick (who is a wuss and a follower, Kelly (his psychotic  best friend), and Jenna (the girlfriend of the psychotic best friend. That he has the hots for).

My Thoughts: I thought this was going to be a fantasy adventure. Somewhat like the TV show Teen Wolf but with a time traveling mental patient. However, that doesn’t happen. I mean I get it. Patrick had to learn how to be himself and that he could make his own decisions. The only way that was going to happen was for his (dic)tator of a friend would go crazy. Kelly is like the stereotypical jock from the 80′s. A bully and an athlete that does drugs. To hide it all he goes crazy, well at least I think so. It’s not really stated in the book whether or not he’s an actual time traveler. However, the events in the book pan out to make it seem like he is one. The only one I feel really bad for here is Edmund. All the other characters were vain and conceited, though as much you hate to admit it, Patrick was for like five minutes. Well Edmund was too, but his fate felt like it could’ve been stopped. Even though Kelly tried everything to fix it. None of it worked. Maybe that’s the way of life. Maybe what Dorfman was trying to convey here was that no matter how much we try to fix things, some things stay broken.
