Plus size women in the beer community. ⠀ ⠀ There are so many amazing, powerful & gorgeous women in craft that I admire. One thing I wish there was more of was plus size visibility. I’ve thought about this for a little while now and have wondered why I haven’t really stumbled upon many beer accounts visibly run by plus women. ⠀ ⠀ Is it because the repost accounts don’t share that kind of content? Is it because women are scared to be plus and show themselves drinking beer for fear or being criticized for indulging? Is it all the beautiful straight sized women already dominating this space that are intimidating?⠀ ⠀ The answer to all of these is I’m not sure.⠀ ⠀ I know in most of the pictures I’ve posted so far on this account I’m ‘passable’ for being a straight sized woman. It’s something I subconsciously was doing without even realizing. So much so, that today I thought twice about even posting this image because my stomach is visible. ⠀ ⠀ Which is RIDICULOUS. This is my body. This is who I am. That picture of me standing up on Memorial Day? That’s also my body, just standing up. ⠀ ⠀ I spent so many years getting to a place where I was comfortable in my own skin. I still think about the first time I wore a crop top out in public. I was shaking & sweating just waiting for someone to make a rude comment. Guess what? NO ONE EVEN BLINKED AN EYE. ⠀ ⠀ So here I am with my tiny circle of beer lovers hoping that if there is a guy or girl out there wanting to do this, that I can inspire them to take the plunge.
