Monel Mesh- Highly preferred material for food processing
Monel Mesh is made of Monel 400 alloy which is a nickel and copper alloy with high tensile strength and high resistance to salt water, atmospheric corrosion and a variety of acid and alkaline solutions. It is widely used in applications in heat exchangers, valves, marine engineering, hydrocarbon processing equipment, pumps and chemical processing equipment.
Monel Wire Mesh is a grid formed by welding steel or alloy wires together at their intersections. It has higher strength, rigidity, stability and doesn’t fray. It has a smooth surface and is available in a wide range of wire diameters and opening sizes. It provides a beautiful appearance to the surroundings.
Monel Woven Wire Mesh is a grid formed by weaving wires alternately over and under and is lock-crimped at their intersections. It also has the same features such as aesthetic appearance, smooth surface, wide range of wire diameters and opening sizes, rigidity, high strength and it also doesn’t fray.
Monel Woven Wire Mesh is of various types such as Plain Weave Wire Mesh, Dutch Weave Wire Mesh, Twill Weave Wire Mesh, Three heddle weave wire Mesh, Plain Dutch Wire Mesh, Crimped Weave Wire Mesh, Five Heddled Weave Wire Mesh, Twill Dutch Weave, Reverse Twill Dutch Wire Mesh and Cross Twill Weave. Two sizes of wire are used to weave Plain Dutch Weave Wire Mesh. Smaller wires of micron size are used in the shute direction and are woven with a larger warp wire. Smaller wires are woven tightly together making a tight mesh for filtering applications whereas the larger wire provides strength to the mesh.
Monel 400 alloy wire mesh has various applications in food processing, mining, construction, automobile etc. Common applications of alloy wire meshes are chemical filters, dandy roll sleeves for paper making, dryer belts and conveyor belts for the non-food industry and food industry, architectural decoration and instance industrial sieves. Monel 400 alloy wire mesh is one of the most common materials used in these industries. Monel 400 alloy can be hot-formed into any shape with the hot working temperature range between 648-1176°C. This alloy also has excellent cold forming characteristics and soft die materials are used for a superior finish. Monel 400 alloy is machined with machine tools which are used for iron alloys. It uses welding methods similar to austenitic stainless steels and it can be easily joined by gas metal arc, gas tungsten arc or shielded metal arc processes using suitable filler metals. Heat treatment of this alloy is performed in a sulfur-free environment and annealing cycle for Monel 400 alloy ranges from 1300 to 1800°F.
Monel 400 alloy is widely used in numerous food and chemical processes due to its high corrosion resistance. Monel 400 alloy can be magnetic as per the composition and previous history. Monel K-500 is also an alloy of nickel and copper with added Aluminum and Titanium which is useful for age hardening. This alloy is totally non-magnetic and spark resistant and is widely used for gyroscope application and anchor cable aboard minesweepers. It is commonly used for propeller shafts on a variety of vessels and is also used in chemical process applications for handling of caustic, organic acids and dry chlorine. Monel K-500 has high fatigue strength in seawater.
