There was a firm knock on the door and then silence. Ciarann was out hunting or doing dumb guy things, leaving Faunvia to check the door on her own. After no doubt waiting a few minutes, to ensure the person was gone, she would find a parcel lovingly placed at the step. It was wrapped in brown paper and had a card on top.
Sister~
I would love you even if I didn’t have to. I mean, probably.
~The best big brother ever.
P.s. Don’t think of this so much as a Love is in the Air gift, but rather a “Welcome Home” gift. Love ya, Faun.
The box was cool to the touch, but, as if there would be any question that it was from him, Ciarann drew, poorly, a deer across the sealed paper.
Within, Faunvia would find a plate of colorful fruit kabobs and another little box. Inside THAT box, she would find a golden pendant on a chain.
Faunvia opened the door after a sufficient amount of time, picking up the parcel and looking it over, the crudely drawn deer on the front letting her relax enough to bring it inside. Placing it on the kitchen table she carefully opened the card, a soft smile curling at her lips and lighting up her usually sad eyes.
Her glowing gaze flitted to the parcel again, a small giggle escaping her at the drawn deer on the front before she carefully set about peeling the paper open so she could save the little piece of artistry. There was a soft sound of surprise at the colorful array of fruit kabobs before another box caught her attention.
Opening the box with delicate fingers her brows raised at the pendant within, gently taking it out and smiling a bit sadder this time. So much of their life seemed to have been filled with changing who they were, the Quel’dorei, then Sin’dorei, and now they were the Ren’dorei. In her lifetime alone she had seen three emblems that marked her people. Placing the pendant about her neck she sincerely hoped this would be their home, for better or worse.
