#favorite franchises

What would you say are your favorite franchises? It can be games, tv shows, animation, etc. And what do you like about them?

great question i have alot of favorite things, i'll make a list of it cause why not.

favorite movies/series;

rebel ridge

the reason why its my favorite movie cause of the story and the characters, such as the main character terry richmond, i like him alot cause of his cold personality and him being a former marine, which makes him 100 times cooler than he is. and i find the story based honestly, and people who like watching action / thriller movies, i honestly recommended watching this movie.

dragons; race to the edge

i really like this series cause HTTYD (how to train your dragon) has such great characters and dragons. especially toothless, hes adorable but also incredibly loyal, strong and helpful. this series and other HTTYD movies/series deserves to be in my list because of how awesome it is.

sonic the hedgehog 3

i love this movie alot cause shadow is in it and has a great story, although it has a different backstory for shadow, i'll give it an exception. but most importantly i really like the fighting scene of shadow and sonic, especially when they first met eachother, very epic.

both awesome movies, people getting sucked in a video game and plays the character? based. the characters are really unique, but the coolest is franklin finbar, he has a gigantic backpack and he explodes when he eats cake? instantly cool. but of course professor sheldon oberon is also cool since hes the only person that can read the map and that sand is his weakness.

i got more but i forgot, so next subject.

After Sentai, what's your favorite toku series?

That kind of depends on my mood.  It fluctuates back and forth between Ultraman and Kamen Rider.  

Yeah, I’m pretty basic when it comes to my favorite franchises.  There are individual series I really, really enjoy (such as the live-action Sailor Moon from the early 2000s) and the Garo franchise is probably my fourth favorite just because I love its aesthetic (I pretty much love anything Keita Amemiya has done design work for). 

Let me address one thing though.  The reason Super Sentai will always be my favorite franchise is that it is the only major, still airing, tokusatsu franchise to give both men and women transforming heroes they can root for and identify with. It was one of the brilliant tweaks to the tokusatsu formula of the 1970s that I think really helped it survive to today (well, that and easily merchandiized giant robots). 

Now, I am not saying girls cannot identify with a male protagonist (heck the sheer number of women I have seen cosplaying Philip from Kamen Rider W is testament to that) but boys should be able to empathize with and see a woman protagonist as equal to the men in a show. 

Aside from very female-centric toku like the above mentioned single live-action Sailor Moon series and the late Toei Fushigi Comedy Series, there just isn’t that kind of even attempted gender balance in the other major franchises.
