Another take : Quinn Hughes is a new man, he decided when he got traded that he would finally do whatever he wants to do and lives his life fully. So when he sees his cute, amazing, tall, etc. new d-partner he is gone. There's no way to not fall for Brock Faber and his minnesotan charm.
So, here comes Project Get Into Faber's Annoyingly Huge Arms.
Lots of compliments for his partner, lots of smiles and hugs. But Brock is like "Yeah Quinn is such an amazing partner." with his oblivious smile.
Quinn is going crazy. He asks Matt if Brock is even interested in him one day the team is out and Quinn is wasted and sad.
Matt finally can't take it anymore. Of course Brock wants him ! Oh my god if he has to listen to Fabs crying about how hot Quinn is, he is going to ask to be traded in Dallas. (He told this to Brock. Brock didn't talk to him for a week and would whisper "fucking Dallas ? Seriously?" everytime Matt would be in the same room.)
Turns out, they both are thirsty and oblivious idiots and Matt deserves a medal.

AND POOR MATT OH GOD.......trapped in the torment nexus of his two idiot teammates being in idiot love with each other and not even realizing it, because they're IDIOTS!! also PLEASE the fact that brock would be more offended about the dallas bit than anything else!!!! matt really does deserve a medal for his patience and for not simply smacking their heads together and going "just fuck about it already!!!!!" and now the poor guy has to watch them make heart eyes at each other all the time...
