Since Malleus is twisted from Maleficent, does that mean he knows Morwenna, Fawn, and Fleur, who are twisted from the Three Good Fairies??? Maleficent was always fighting with them in the movie, so do they not get along? What about Calista??? They all have the same last name of "Sylvan". Does Malleus know Calista, too?
In AvionVadion's fic (they mentioned you guys share a few ocs, which is why I'm bringing it up) Malleus in a recent chapter was reading a story about Beauty and the Beast with Eleanora and had a weird reaction when the Enchantress popped up. Was that because he does know Calista? Do they not get along? I think Avion mentioned they're playing around with Malleus being Beast or Eros or something, so...
Does Malleus know the Sylvans? OH YES. And the relationship between those families has always been tempestuous. The reason? In Chapter 56 of @avionvadion's Once Upon a Dream, Malleus says this: “According to my grandmother, many millennia ago, our ancestor had fallen ill with a terrible curse. One that was slowly eroding away at her body. Her spouse went off to search for a cure, traveling the world in a desperate hope to save her. Eventually, he found it- deep within the lands of the kingdom that would later be renamed the Scalding Sands. There, he found an eccentric old man tending to many forgotten plants- and one of those plants… was a massive tree known as the Tree of Renewal.”
That curse that nearly killed the Draconia ancestor? That was due to the Sylvan ancestor. The Sylvan ancestor cursed the Draconia ancestor with that eroding away curse and got a curse in return that weakened their power. That's why Maleficent's powers are much stronger than the Three Good Fairies to the point Merryweather cannot undo Aurora's curse.
Fae don't just live in Briar Valley, they live in pockets all over in different courts. The Draconia head the nocturnal fae of Court of Thorns. The closest court to the Court of Thorns is the Court of Verdure. The Sylvan family is the closest thing to "Royalty" the diurnal fae of the Court of Verdure have. Malleus has met Fleur, Fawn, and Morwenna on occasion, but because of the sheer amount of power he has due to his "blessings", he frightens them. As a fun little note, Arianell's older brother, Emyr, runs another fae court, the Court of Bone. There's also a Court of Gossamer, but I'll leave who's in that one a mystery for right now.
Calista is the much younger sibling of Fleur, Fawn, and Morwenna, (Think Fleur the faerie equivalent of 20, Fawn 18, and Morwenna 16 when Calista was born). Calista was born about the same time Malleus hatched, if not a little younger. Her magic is specialized in curses and reading curses, so she's the envoy who meets with the Draconias as the Court of Verdure and Thorns are relatively close to one another, so they meet up at times.
So yeah, Malleus KNOWS Calista and she ANNOYS him. Calista has a habit of altering her outward age appearance because it's one of the talents that her elder sisters do not do. So, she likes to visit new places under the guise of an ugly, elderly woman to see who can suss out she's not an old lady. Malleus, being a fae and a very powerful one, immediately sees through it when she does that and her habit is an irritant. Especially because she does it when she visits Briar Valley because Silver and Sebek (who is half human) cannot immediately see through her age glamour and she gets entertainment out of it. So the face he made at the mention of an old ugly woman turning into a beautiful Enchantress? He was reminded of Calista and that habit of hers that he finds really annoying.
As for the Eros and Beast thing? I can discuss how the Ancient Greek pantheon fragmented in Twisted Wonderland (as I proposed the concept of Rosabelle and El being fragments of Psyche and Malleus and Beast being fragments of Eros to Avion when Rosabelle and Vincent were in character formation. Please note, I had no hand in their characters, I just was offering a solution because El is also inspired by/Twisted from Belle and Greek mythology is a MASSIVE HYPERFIXATION OF MINE), but I'll let Avion handle any questions about how Malleus and Vincent are tied to the Beast and Eros.
