Siggy only had one shift to work today. So the kids were getting a treat this morning for sure. Blueberry Pancakes for breakfast, Bryce and Yakov would be excited for sure. She rolled over turning off her alarm and laying there a minute soaking in the silence. Her brows furrowing as she heard motion at the foot of her bed. She carefully got up to find Emma and Yakov snuggled together on the floor.
Her brows furrowed but she left them alone making her way downstairs to start breakfast. Soon the kids came down and everything was ready for them but still no Violetta. “Yakov? Where’s your mom at?” She asked sitting down with them at the table to eat herself and watching Yakov shrug. Vi never missed getting the kids ready for school. Even if had stayed somewhere else that night.
She didn’t get the call till she was at work. It was Jo and he never called her brows knit together but when the realization hit her her phone fell to the floor and she raced home and up to Vi and Yakov’s room just to make sure she wasn’t there. She called Hadley to explain herself, her voice full of sorrow as she tried to hold everything together. “I uh.. I gotta be here when the kids get off the bus from now on Hadley. I’m gonna have to take night shift only.” She took a deep breath as she hung up the phone again and let it drop to the ground. She slid down the wall in Vi’s room and sat there for a moment worried about her friend.
She had to have been there a good thirty minutes and she had to get the kids. She wiped her face and straightened herself up. How was she going to explain this to Yakov? She made her way downstairs and out front putting a smile on her face but knowing it wouldn’t last long. Bryce and Emma hugged her and ran in the house but Yakov stood there for a moment. Looking around and trying to figure out why Violetta wasn’t there.
It broke Siggy’s heart but she tried to keep it together as she knelt down in front of the little boy. “It’s gonna be okay, Yakov.” She said fixing his hair and trying to hold back the tears. “I’m not going anywhere and we’re going to find your mother. I promise you that.” The solemn look on the boy’s face as he walked towards the house only broke her heart more.
She looked up to the skies and shaking her head to try to fight back the tears but couldn’t as they streamed down her face. What was she going to do without Violetta?
