Music for A Radioactive Calamity of Love, Bombs & Gore and The Silver Chronicles. As well as an OC Meme Template for The UnTitledverse OCs, plus a colors challenge for me. Listen and view below the cut:
Please note that all I'm about to say about Faith Seed here is my own interpretation based on the base game (Far Cry 5) alone: I do not consider any "revelation" in the Collapse DLC canon nor relevant to FC5's continuity due to a number of reasons I won't share here, and sincerely do not care for "Word of God/Saint Paul" based on principle. Now, some similarities and differences I thought were worth sharing about Silva & Faith. Both Silva & Faith share a father (figure) who fit them into a role that specifically places them on an idealized pedestal they must maintain and functions for some kind of spiritual/religious purpose, but is also a role that is explicitly (and fatally) replaceable should they falter or stray from their assigned purpose, just like their previous predecessors. Silva and Faith share a history of abuse from a birth parent/s (I do believe Faith when she says she was abused by her birth family), which also led them in jumping at the chance of a familial connection with someone who could fulfill that familial role (specifically a kind of paternal role: Paul for Silva, and Joseph for Faith). Both are women in positions of influence and authority, especially in their respective factions. Both are deceptive in their own ways and for their own reasons, especially in relation to their pasts, and both have a complicated relationship with honesty and often mask their truths behind a persona/performance. Both are cunning, tactical, and extremely spiteful towards those whom they hold low standings with. And finally, both had a previous personal identity that they viewed as weak, broken or just negatively, until someone or something came into/happened to them in their lives that led to their "rebirth" as a stronger, more powerful and overall, "better version" of themselves. There's likely more similarities, but the differences are... staggeringly contrasting.
Silva and Faith's replaceable roles bestowed upon them by a "father" in their lives is a prime example; its apparent Faith has lasted far longer than her predecessors (Lana and Selena), likely for years, and while her replaceability will never fully go away (the contrast between her songs & propaganda signs and John & Jacob's more personal + visibly printed faces on the propaganda/billboards), her impact on the Project at Eden's Gate with her perfection over Bliss (+ her own immunity towards it) seems to have ensured the threat of a replacement won't be anytime soon, or at all since she performs her role flawlessly enough to have Joseph's full confidence and an overall positive (if unideal & unhealthy) bond with him, meanwhile with Silva it was a matter of luck that she lasted as long as she did - in short, she wasn't meant to be born a girl, but Adam was prevented from infanticide by likely the closest person he held respect to in his life (his childhood friend Alvarich whom had been indoctrinated into the Congregation alongside Adam, groomed into becoming the future Prophet's main adviser), with reasoning that Adam's (frankly unreachable) goals could still work even though the "Judas" he wanted for a son was instead a girl (which quelled Adam enough to not immediately murder his new daughter but did exile Alvarich to the Mines for standing up to him this one time), and so Adam kept Silva around to become his "Judas" whom would betray him (while occasionally attempting to take her life when he felt like forgetting the vow he made to Alvarich for a couple seconds), and yet held no genuine love for her (and treated her like shit most of the time) just he held no love for her failed predecessors, whom were all blood siblings and were numerous compared to Faith's predecessors. Silva's adoptive father/daughter relationship with Paul was far more stable, unconditional and equal in standing (at least during their time on the Archipiélagos) than Joseph & Faith's own will ever be, and their relationship with those under their own positions of authority is quite contrasting too; Faith's is parasocial and (to an extent) one-sided but also extremely toxic (with Faith perhaps having the capacity to care for her underlings but still reducing them to mere disposable yet martyred cannon fodder and often taking away their bodily autonomy too) while Silva's leadership in the Resistance is based on mutual respect and trust through genuine connection and understanding. Silva is evasive and deflective of her past due to how much pain and sorrow it brings to herself (as well as sounding outright unbelievable), while Faith weaves whatever truths she tells about her past along with lies to better weaponize it for manipulation to lure new convents into the Project at Eden's Gate for Joseph. Their spite also differs: Faith's spite is violently disproportionate and meant only to psychologically "punish" her offender while Silva's spite towards those who offended her (specifically John) is strictly targeted towards them and only affects them, and the spite is more a "cherry on top" kind of personal retribution that doesn't get in the way of an ongoing mission. Faith is a known liar and for those savvy enough (like Silva herself), can see through her tricks, while Silva is someone who is genuinely hard to read and would be someone described as mysterious or mystique (unbeknowst to her of course), and such an obstacle drives Faith up the wall (while also inspiring a bit of curiosity surrounding the deputy).
And lastly, their current identities; Faith's was given as a role that was convenient for her to unshackle herself from the sad & unfulfilled life as Rachel, even when it came with conditions, while the identity of Silva came through the Tumultite traditions she grew accustomed to; essentially, she sheds the meeker identity of Sylvester, a persona her father Adam forced upon her, to grow into the more stable and firmer identity of Silva, a mosiac of the life experiences she's gone through and an identity born from a cherished nickname given to her by the positive influence of a loving and accepting community. Both Silva and Faith's relationship with violence AND their faith, especially with how it overlaps with their own relationship together, is also something to discuss, but for another post and time:
"I once was a child With innocent eyes And my family swore They knew best for my life
I followed their rules As I played with my friends When it came to the world Never thought it would end
Help me faith Help me faith, shield me from sorrow From fear of tomorrow Help me faith Help me faith, shield me from sadness From worry and madness Lead me to the bliss
And as I grew up I could never be free 'Cause the shackles I wore Can't be touched to be seen
My heart never loved And my soul couldn't laugh So much hate in my life Couldn't make out the path
Help me faith Help me faith, shield me from sorrow From fear of tomorrow Help me faith Help me faith, shield me from sadness From worry and madness Lead me to the bliss
And when I grew old I was riddled with sin Locked my soul in the dark Never let the light in
I crawled towards the gate With little time left I cried, "what have I done?" As I took my last breath
Help me faith Help me faith, shield me from sorrow From fear of tomorrow Help me faith Help me faith, shield me from sadness From worry and madness Lead me to the bliss Lead me to the bliss!"
Next up is a song for Paul's relationship with the Highwaymen Twins, Mickey & Lou, in Old Dusk. One prominent thing about Paul is that he is a certified girldad (although can be flexible with being a better father figure to, say, Ethan than Joseph ever could be, albeit out of manipulation than genuine want), but he is solely a girldad to Silva, even despite their fallout after the events of La Última En Pie (which led to his murder of Persephone, Silva's first daughter, and his own demise at the hands of Silva, albeit he wasn't putting much effort into preventing it). So any parental relationship he forms with anyone else isn't quite as genuine, especially now that he's resurrected and completely under the servitude of his deity, Zachariah, and doing the Orchestrator's bidding. Case in point: Paul adapts to filling the void the Highwaymen Twin's father, Vince, leaves behind after Mickey and Lou killed him to advance their own ambitions over the Highwaymen. Vince became a "problem" to Mickey and Lou, most likely being "softer" in his leadership over the Highwaymen which got in the way of the twins own ambitions, meanwhile Paul offers himself as a "problem solver" to them, and since his advice and help guaranteed good tidings to the twins and the Highwaymen, he earned himself a position of power and trust within Mickey and Lou's inner circle. Paul presents himself as someone who is worthy of their respect, by showcasing he can back up his own power and threats; mainly through his skills, physically and verbally, and power he and the twins "work together" to keep hidden from the other underbosses of the Highwaymen, especially with the convenient cover of Paul being a physically disabled man, which would get the other underbosses in Mickey and Lou's court to disregard him (after all, what's an often wheelchair-bound, chronically-in-pain man in his mid-fifties gonna do to a bunch of hardened road-traveling marauders? A LOT, HE CAN DO A LOT, HIS GO-TO-METHOD OF HANDING OUT DEATH IS DECAPITATION FOR GODS' SAKE-!), a position he's more than happy with since it keeps him out of the public spotlight (and therefore out of everybody's attention when he's doing supernatural shit). Paul also appeals to Mickey's violence and sadism, often backing her methods up with a logical lens as well as a personal one; he and Mickey do share brutal violence as part of their life. Such a relationship is insincere from Paul's side though; he genuinely can't view either of the twins as a daughter, nor even as a replacement to Silva, the twins violence being abhorrent and unjustified to him notwithstanding. He can't stop himself from comparing them to Silva, and that idealization prevents him from allowing any potential of another parent/child relationship like that again. Not to mention he's entrapped in his own self-loathing suffering, as well as the suffering that comes with being in service to a deity who basically forces him to harm himself for its entertainment (whom also resurrected him as a conscious hivemind of man-eating wasps that are eternally hungry for human flesh), so any relationship for Paul at this point in his life in Old Dusk is out of the question in general.
"If you wanna be evil and awful and free Then you should thank your lucky star That you were born the girl you are The daughter of an evilicious queen Like me!"
And the last song is for Arcane Urias and Discord, the Mad Kin of Carnage's cooperation throughout my Fallout WIP series called A Radioactive Calamity of Love, Bombs & Gore. Urias discovers some remnants of Discord's crystal heart in What Happened To Vault Numbered 76? and manages to recover some essence of Discord, allowing both Displacement and Kin to come into contact with one another. Urias shares his disdain and disappointment in the regressive evolution of humanity and wishes to get rid of it entirely, while Discord offers an accord; resurrect him into his body, and the Mad Kin will grant Urias a shard of his decaying power to add to his own in order to destroy the very world of Fallout, to which Urias agrees and goes off in search of the remaining shards of Discord's shattered heart (of which Urias has fixed up into an amulet), before deciding to utilize the use of a group that can help with locating and obtaining said shards; which Urias, along with his apprentice, Aggravor, will found as the Occult, a movement that desires to preserve the Old Magic that was lost to humanity's overstaying presence (especially with their hyperfixation on technology) and bring back the former powers that predated humanity; aka the Kin. This is, however, entirely a ruse set up by Urias and Discord, to better justify to the underlings why they're bringing back a deranged Kin.
"Quake in fear, for he is near Waitin' for you to take a step in here If you run, you cannot hide You're in danger the moment you arrive
Why not relax? Come on, have some soup It's probably gonna be the last thing you do If you really don't wanna die Keep on running for your life
I am your disciple, don't you know that's true Look at everything I've done for you You're here and there, and everywhere My love is all I've shared
Can I get an amen? ("Amen, Amen, mmm-mm-mmm!") ("Amen, Amen, mmm-mm-mmm!") ("Amen, Amen, mmm-mm-mmm!") ("Amen, Amen, mmm-mm-mmm!")
Amen, Amen Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen
Can I get an Amen?"
Here's an OC Meme Template of the Omniscient Rule gang (and honorary members) which relates a little bit to Pride Month because of course:
From left to right, top to bottom are the following OCs:
Jeff Hopper, an amateur private detective who is the brother of Jim Hopper, is actually Pansexual, though he has a big fat gay crush on a long-time widower, Leslie Who.
Rick Thompson, leader of Team Beta in the Omniscient Rule, is Bisexual in a (Bi4Bi) relationship with Allyson "Alice" Darling.
Lillian "Lena" Elliot, former Fazbear Pizzeria Night Guard turned member of the Omniscient Rule, Lena is lesbian in a relationship with Cassandra Darling.
Calvin Dearing, a former cartoonist from the 1930s who is now a dream spirit, helped take care of Joaquin alongside Mario & Lisa before the events of The Perfect Storm saga kicked off. Calvin's sexuality is officially Demisexual, and homoromantic. Calvin technically isn't a member of the Omniscient Rule since he died before its conception, but he is still considered and honored as one of its inspiration/founders.
Allyson "Alice" Darling, the eldest daughter of the Darling Family whom run Darling Enterprises, abandons her parent's crushing expectation on her to join the Omniscient Rule as their intelligence and dispatch. She is in a happy (Bi4Bi) relationship with Rick Thompson.
Eleanor, a former Knight of the Light (or rather, the Beacon of Light, Agnes, the sixth-borne Eldritch), after her master's death at the end of The Perfect Storm saga, Eleanor joined the Time Guard full time, and co-leads it with Timekeeper (and later, H.O.S.T). The Time Guard is on good terms with the Omniscient Rule (unlike the Time Bureau Authority), and often help them out. Eleanor's sexuality isn't necessarily focused on, but due to her attraction to Maru, she is queer.
Fizzer Pop, a former animatronic entertainer (from both Hell and then repurposed for the Dark Circus in the mortal realm), is now an official member of the Omniscient Rule who basically saved the day during The Omniscient Rule: Dark Omen. Fizzer Pop is explicitly queer and gender non-conforming, but holds no specific label.
Mario Emmet, a shapeshifting extraterrestrial known as "Deadlights", he had helped Lisa & Calvin take care of Joaquin before the events of The Perfect Storm. Mario is bisexual in a polyamorous relationship with Charlie Emily (fellow bisexual) and Elizabeth Afton (pansexual).
Cassandra Darling, local mechanic and now a caretaker of a foster shelter for Shiners and other gifted children alongside her alternate universe variant Malcrum Darling, is lesbian and a transgender woman.
