Pediophobia

Pediophobia is the fear of dolls, puppets, and inanimate objects that look real.

Its a subtype of Automatonophobia, which is described as the fear of humanoid figures.

Some people are afraid of all dolls and stuffed toys, while others fear only a specific type. Dolls that talk or move and old-fashioned china dolls are especially common targets of fear.

This fear is not to be confused with Pedophobia, which is the fear of children. It is common for one to have both, so that one is afraid or disturbed by all baby dolls in that category.

Pediophobia affects at least 9% of adults, and 16% of children.

Trypophobia

Trypophobia is the feeling of fear or disgust of bumps, holes, and nodules on objects or surfaces.

If you have trypophobia, you'll generally notice feelings of disgust and discomfort when looking at an object or surface with small clusters of holes or shapes that resemble holes.

One might be triggered by sponges, honeycombs, bubble wrap, fruit seeds or skin, and patterned animals.

It can also directly corrospond to human skin. Trypophobia may be a common reaction to skin diseases that cause similar cavities.

Trypophobia is not recognized in pyschiatry's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, but it is present in 16 percent of people, according to a new study in Psychological Science, which is the first to address the strange fear.

As many as 17% of children and adults, or 1 in 6 people, have been known to process some degree of trypophobia.

It was first named in 2005.

Nomophobia

The fear of being away from one's mobile phone or other smart technology. The common factors of this relatively common fear is;

Anxiety, respiratory changes, restlessness or agitation, trembling, disorientation, and tachycardia.

It usually stems from increasing reliance on technology, and concern over what might happen if one does not have access to certain information.

Thalassophobia

The intense and persistent fear of large, deep bodies of water, such as seas, oceans, pools, and lakes. Also known as the fear of sea creatures and plants.

Although similar, this phobia should not be confused with Aquaphobia, the fear of water itself.

Achluophobia, or Nyctophobia

A phobia characterized as a severe fear of the darkness. It is triggered by the brain's disfigured perception of what would, or could, happen in a dark environment.

An estimated 9% of the American population have this common Phobia.

Azure eyes carefully scanned the students as they filed out of the classroom. The lesson had been a simple introduction into facing one’s fears and though many seemed to know their fear, some were more reluctant to share it with him.

Perhaps it was because of fellow students listening in or perhaps it was embarrassment yet either way Castiel knew he had to find out each student’s fear if he wanted to help them past it. Facing ones fears would be the only way to over come it.

His gaze settled on a student who had lagged behind the others and he pushed himself up from leaning against his desk. “Do you have a few moments to spare?” He inquired as he took a few measured steps forward, stance relaxed as to not put the student on the defensive. “I wish to speak to you about today’s lesson.”
