“ you don’t have to do anything, kyuhyun . ” taesong crosses his arms over his chest and leans back. he enjoys the way kyuhyun stutters and grovels quite a bit. it’s entertaining, watching the younger beg for forgiveness in his broken english. “ did he put a gun to your head and force you to speak korean ? i didn’t think so . ”

the smiles fades from robin’s face in an instant as he watches his husband, confused by his sudden shift in demeanor. “ kyuhyun, baby what are you taking about ? i don’t care about what i deserve. you’re what i want and that’s more important than anything else . ”

they’ve been arguing for hours. this is the third day in a row they’ve fought about something and robin is exhausted. mentally and emotionally exhausted. he loves kyuhyun, he really does, but this is getting ridiculous. it started out as one stupid thing. one little comment that robin didn’t want to blow out of proportion but did anyway. first it was kyu leaving their date to go to harvey. again. then it was all the times kyu’s ditched robin to spend time with harvey. then it was other things. stupid things not even related to the argument. it’s frustrating. and robin’s had enough.

“ that depends, kyuhyun. you have to make a decision right now. are you going to actually put effort into our relationship, into our marriage, or are you going to keep running off to harvey every time he claims he needs you ? ”

“ did i, now ? ” taesong tips his head slightly, analyzing kyuhyun’s features through the glass. it seems that the younger’s cheeks get fatter every time they have one of their visits. how ugly. it mus be that cop’s influence. taesong always liked kyuhyun skinny .  “ do you really believe that, kyuhyun? i showed you the truth. do you really think that a person who knows the truth is such a terrible person to be ? ”

it’s easy to see the rain as it comes through the hole in the roof. the same hole that creates snowdrifts during the winter allows rain in now. a cold rain, one that will no doubt rot the floors through for good by the time winter comes and force the two back out onto the streets until they find a new place to squat. at the sound of kyuhyun’s voice, ben only turns slightly, face still resting against his bent knees. curled up to try and keep the cold out.

“ maybe it’s falling for us . ” he suggests, eyes moving from his elder to the hole in the roof. “ when we were little, my grandma told my brothers and i that rain was god’s way of crying, and that god always cried when his kids were hurting . ” 

ben’s voice catches in his throat, embarrassed. he knows, vaguely, that kyuhyun is religious, but he’s never been sure himself. still, the suggestion leaves a painful sting in his heart. the idea that someone out there considers them their son, that someone out there is crying for them.

“ maybe god’s crying for us . ”

fluorescent lights aren’t flattering on kyuhyun, taesong decides. or perhaps he’s just gained weight since he went back to korea. it’s hard to tell. but what he knows is that the man sitting on the other side of the glass has never been less attractive to him. how could he miss someone so repulsive?
