#DailyDevotion God's Glory Is Chiefly Shown In Forgiving Us Psalm 25 11Glorify Your name, O LORD, and forgive My sin—it is great. It is a great thing, we probably don't think about it often, that the LORD and His Name is glorified in forgiving sin, great sin. When Jesus prays the Father would glorify His Name He is referring to Him crucifying Jesus for the forgiveness of the sin of the world. When Jesus in the Gospels refers to Himself being glorified and entering His kingdom, He is referring to His being crucified for us to obtain for us eternal life. It is a great thing for us to be able to go to the Father and ask for the forgiveness of sins in Jesus' name even though our sins are so great. God shows His glory to us chiefly in showing us mercy, kindness, forgiveness and stead-fast love. 12If you are one who fears the LORD, He will teach you the way you should choose. To fear the LORD is to worship Him and show Him reverence. It is to listen to Him, believe Him, and do what He says. When we do this, He continues to teach us in the ways we should go. He will lead us in the ways that are best for us. It may not always be easy. Jesus tells us if we would be His disciples we must pick up our crosses and follow Him. His way may seem like it leads to death and destruction of ourselves at times. What it leads to though is our best selves, our humble, grateful, and loving selves. It leads to eternal life and being life Jesus, like the Father. 13You will enjoy good things in your life, and your children will inherit the land. Paul tells us in Romans 8, God works all things out for good for those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. That being said, some of those things God works out for good are sufferings, pain, nakedness, hunger, persecution and the like. Nevertheless, He will work those things out for good in our lives. We, like Paul, will know what it is like to be content with much and with little. In all these things we know it is God who strengthens us in Christ Jesus. Even in the midst of trouble, we will enjoy thing things in this life. More importantly, we will enjoy good things without trouble in the world to come through faith in Christ Jesus. We and our children will inherit the New Heavens and New Earth God has promised us through the prophets. We are not looking for a little piece of land on the eastern end of the Mediterranean. We send our hearts to heaven looking for a heavenly country where sin and death are no more. We are looking for the heavenly Zion where Jesus rules the hearts and minds of all men. In this new world, where sin is no more, it will rain when it needs to rain and the sun will shine when it needs to shine. The crops will grow as they need to grow without disease, pestilence, or wild animals destroying the crops. There will be no more wars. All people will live in peace and harmony with one another as the love of God will reign in their hearts. There we will always enjoy the good life and the good things in life. Knowing this, we are able to bear all things and continue to fear the LORD, trusting in His promises and being instructed by Him through His word by those He sends to us. Heavenly Father, grant us to see your glory as you forgive us our sins for the sake of Jesus. Give us ears that hear all that You would instruct us and give us You Holy Spirit so we may believe and do all you command. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Read the full article
