Sabrina was still clutching the makeshift script in her hands, she had been since the moment she realized she was the Logan baby everyone kept referring to. The dates matched up, and in her heart she knew. Everything was starting to make sense; how similar the two of them looked, her Aunt’s estrangement from the family, the way she’d looked at Sabrina the few times they’d met- tears in her eyes and a quick getaway to another room. Glenda had told Sabrina stories about her sister, about her alcohol problems, how those problems had consumed her and she’d fallen off the grid. Sabrina had always chalked her behavior up to that.
Her eyes fall back down to the script, reading and re-reading what little Odessa had said. ‘Obviously I’m very protective of my daughter and her well-being’. Odessa had been protective of her, Odessa had loved her, why the fuck had she left her behind? She wishes she could remember, wishes that she could pull a memory- any memory from a dusty corner of her brain. They’re all gone, and somehow that hurts worse, being left behind and having no memory of it.
And then there’s Bertram, she can barely stand to think about him. She held her composure in front of him, he didn’t deserve to see her break, but now there was no resolve left. She thinks about every night they spent together, every kiss, every moment she’d spent feeling safe in his arms. Oh god, she was going to be sick.
She doesn’t notice her fingers tearing through the paper or the tears that have begun to roll down her cheeks when she looks up at West, not knowing what to say or if she even wants to talk about it in the first place. “Has Hugo found out anything about Virginia?” she says instead, “Can we- is there a bail?”
