Hi! I love your blurbs, so can you please do one where y/n is an actress promoting a movie and she freaks out over how many people are outside the hotel?? And shawn is there with her (maybe he's in the movie too idk). Thank you!
You’re still new in the industry, and this is your first big premiere, which is probably why you’re so nervous and anxious about it. Luckily, Shawn managed to rearrange his schedule to be with you today, which you’re so grateful for. The only downside to Shawn being here is the fans are now camped outside of your hotel, not just for you, but for him too.
You have a full day of press before the premiere tonight. Being new in the industry also means you’re new to press and you’re not completely comfortable with all that it entails. You’re trying your best to remain calm, but as you’ve been getting your makeup done, you’ve been constantly hearing talk about how many fans are outside. You haven’t seen the fans yet, but just hearing about it has been making you nervous on top of everything else you have to be worried about today.
Finally, you’re finished getting ready, and it’s time to head out. Shawn has been mostly in the background all morning, trying not to get in anyones way, but as you leave the hotel room, he falls into step beside you and takes your hand in his. “You look beautiful.” He says, just loud enough for you to hear.
“Thanks,” You respond distractedly.
“What’s wrong?” He questions, squeezing your hand. He can tell you’re anxious.
You shrug, “Just a lot going on today.”
He smiles, nodding. “It’s a big day.” His eyes sparkle, and you can tell he’s so proud of you. It warms your heart and calms you, just a little. He keeps hold of your hand as you walk down the hall and ride the elevator down to the lobby. When you’re downstairs, you have to wait for security to meet you before you go outside. The large glass front of the hotel means you can see out, and the fans lining the sidewalk can see in.
They’ve probably been watching and waiting for you and Shawn for hours, so you can see the energy outside increase as they catch sight of you two. You knew that this would happen. It’s part of what happens when you’re the female lead in one of the most anticipated films of the year who also happens to be dating a particularly famous singer-songwriter. Even though you knew it was coming, the anxiety in you has been building up for days now, all leading to today. You have press and then the red carpet, and after that people are going to watch your film. This is all happening today and seeing the crowd outside pushes your anxiety right over the edge.
“Baby?” You hear Shawn’s voice. He’s whispering, but his tone is urgent and almost desperate. He moves so that his body is positioned between you and the large glass windows. His back is facing the windows, and you can no longer see the crowd because he’s blocking your view. “Look at me,” He says, still keeping his voice low so no one else can tell that something’s going on. Finally, you lock eyes with him. “Breathe.” He states, knowing how difficult this is for you right now, even though you haven’t told him anything. His eyes are trained on you. “Breathe.” He reminds you again.
You have to force yourself to focus on him, but you manage to breathe again. He holds your gaze, nodding almost imperceptibly as you continue to consciously breathe.
He knows how you feel about PDA, and he is also just aware as you about the fans that can see inside. You’re almost certain this is the only reason he hasn’t pulled you into his arms despite how much he wants to and how much you want him to. He still has one of your hands in his, the most PDA you allow.
When your publicist appears, Shawn turns to her, not letting go of your hand or stepping away from you. “She can’t take pictures with the fans outside, not right now.” He’s not asking for her permission, he’s telling her it’s not happening.
Shawn and your publicist have a love-hate relationship, they always have. Shawn knows what her job is, he’s dealt with his own publicist over the years, but you are always Shawn’s number one priority. Your publicist’s job is to get publicity, to give you a good public persona, and Shawn doesn’t always agree with her methods.
“What do you mean? She has to.” She responds, almost frantic at the possibility.
Shawn squeezes your hand reassuringly as he responds to her. “She’s not going through that crowd.” He states again, not budging even a little. “I’ll go out there and take pictures with whoever wants pictures, but she’s not going out there and taking fifty selfies with all that anxious energy.” Shawn knows you so well. He knows how anxious fans can be when they’re waiting for pictures and taking pictures. He also knows that their anxiety makes you feel even more anxious, and it takes a lot of energy out of you.
“They’re waiting out there for her.” Kathryn says, and Shawn just stares back at her. You look back and forth between Shawn and Kathryn. At least half of those girls are there for Shawn, and out of those that are there for you, they’d probably be just as content to get a picture with Shawn as well. All of you know that, and Shawn is going to use whatever leverage he can in this moment.
“I’ll go out there, take pictures, and give them a solid excuse for why she’s not there too.” He says, subtly using his head to motion towards the front of the hotel. “You can figure out how to get a car around back. I know there’s a back entrance.” When she doesn’t reply right away, Shawn continues, “Or I can figure out about the back entrance, and we can both leave through there, and the fans don’t get any pictures or reassurance that she didn’t avoid them for no reason.” He adds. From the look on his face, you know that he knows he sounds like a dick, but at this point, he genuinely does not care.
Kathryn is not happy about Shawn’s ultimatum, but she’s not dumb enough to argue with him right now. “Fine,” She says, leaving to talk to the front desk. Shawn turns his attention back to you, searching your face again, trying to determine if you’re going to be okay or not.
Your voice feels like it’s been caught in your throat, which is why you didn’t say anything the whole time Shawn and Kathryn were talking.
“It’s going to be okay,” Shawn whispers softly, squeezing your hand. The hard edge that was in his voice just seconds ago is nowhere to be found. “I’ll meet you at the studio.” He says, talking about the studio where you’re doing press. “I’ll be right behind you.” He pulls his airpods out of his jacket pocket, pressing them into your hand and closing your fingers around them. “Listen to something chill. Just remember to breathe. Have the driver roll down the windows enough to let some fresh air in.” You nod to his instructions, some of the anxiety has subsided now that you know you no longer have to walk out the front into the crowd. “I’ll be there soon. It’s going to be alright, baby. I got your back, okay?” You just nod again, and he stares at you for a minute longer, to make sure you really are going to be okay.
Kathryn returns, letting you know the car is on its way to the back. Shawn nods at her and squeezes your hand one last time. “I’ll see you there.” He tells you before letting go of your hand. You follow behind Kathryn, and Shawn walks over to Jake who was standing on the side to tell him what’s going on. You take a deep breath, replaying Shawn’s voice in your head and everything he just told you because he’s the only thing keeping you from falling apart right now.
