Febirdary 06 – Awkward / Bizarre

The Eurasian bittern !

This kind of heron has the peculiarity of hiding in the reeds by standing upright as an i. Mother nature being nice, it positioned its eyes so that even in this position, it can see a predator approaching. Isn't it classy to be able to stare someone with the chin ...? x'D

The Eurasian bittern also has one of the coolest songs I've ever heard. If we consider the sound of someone who blow in a big pipe as cool, but I love it.

Le Butor étoilé !

Cette sorte de héron a la particularité de se cacher dans les roseaux en se tenant droit comme un i. Dame nature étant sympa, elle lui a positionné les yeux de façon à ce que même dans cette position, il puisse voir un prédateur approcher. S'est-y pas classe de pouvoir dévisager quelqu'un avec son menton... ? X'D

Le Butor a aussi l'un des chants les plus cool que j'ai pu entendre. Si tant est qu'on considère le bruit de quelqu'un qui s'époumone dans un gros tuyau comme cool, mais moi j'adore.

Febirdary day 4! day 2 for me because I started late :))

Thought I’d follow the prompt this time, so this is a friend! Its a female Turdus merula or Blackbird, she usually hangs out in the garden waiting for other, smaller birds to pick on the tallow ball (do they have those in other countries? they’re balls made out of tallow and seeds?) so she can get the crumbles. She’s so smart! Gonna get her some apples so she doesn’t have to wait for others to eat though :)

Lewin’s Honeyeater

Intended to draw this bird for Febirdary’s “Loathed”. This species was the most-maligned Meliphaga among the field crew in Australia. They’re noisy, aggressive, have a Joker smile, and are a very... interesting shade of greenish-brown. But one of our techs loves them with all her heart. This one goes out to you, LTL!
