I might going to say an artistic blasphemy but: Regarding color, wouldn't be easier for your comic to just go with flat colors and by using just the bucket tool? I don't even k ow myself if I'm joking or I'm serious a this point.
Haha... Honestly, that would look so boring/bland that I would NEVER consider it. I don’t like how flats looks most of the time. I would never put out a comic like that.
You may be surprised to know that many people think the reason I don’t color is because I don’t know the bucket tool exists. I still get messages from well-meaning digital artists that sound like this: “If you don’t like coloring, you should try using the Fill tool! :)” or “You don’t like coloring? I used to not like it either, but then I discovered that you can just use the bucket button!”
Which is really sweet, but it’s not the issue. I have known about the bucket tool..... since middle school... I almost never fill in any of my coloring by hand.
Nah, the thing with coloring is... not only do I not like coloring, but I also have high standards, and I DO have a solid grasp of color. I know what looks good, and achieving that specific tone/effect/mood takes time and effort I’m not willing to invest.
