R probably gets jealous at some point, like if he calls frank something that’s exclusively reserved for her.
18+ mdni omg yes :(( she so would… like maybe jack absentmindedly calls frank “sweetie” in passing at one point and you’re immediately pouting and huffing. grumbling under your breath— “frank’s not a sweetie.”
ofc robby and frank both hear you. you arent good at being subtle. frank has such a shit-eating grin on and robby chuckles as he eyes your scrunched up face, your expression all prissy and contorted. “Relax, kiddo, you’ll give yourself a migraine.”
“And I’m a total sweetie, thank you very much.”
n it’s all fun and games…. until one day jack is over to watch a game and he accidentally calls frank pumpkin……. that is not fun. that is very serious.
it totally just slips out— you’re on the couch, sandwiched between robby and jack. frank heads to the kitchen to get more beers… when he comes back he hands one to jack, and jack says “thanks pumpkin” as casual as ever. he doesnt even realize what he just did— but frank stops dead in his tracks and his head snaps towards you.
jack follows his gaze and sees your crestfallen face— eyes wide and shiny, lower lip already wobbling.
on your other side, robby shakes his head, already exasperated. “Sweetheart, please don’t. Just take a deep breath.”
It’s too late. You let out a soft, choked sound, half whimper half sob, and turn to bury yourself in robby’s chest. he scrubs a hand down his face.
“Baby— pumpkin,” Jack pleads. His brows are furrowed, genuine remorse etched in his features. “I didn’t mean that. It just slipped out.”
“You should mean it,” Your watery voice is muffled by the fabric of Robby’s shirt. “Could call anyone that if it doesn’t mean anything.”
Jack sighs. “Don’t take it like that. You know I don’t call anyone else pumpkin.”
“You just did.”
“Not on purpose.”
“It doesn’t matter.”
Jack just blinks at you for a moment, at a loss. Then he glances at Robby, who just shakes his head and rolls his eyes as he begrudgingly pats your back.
“Sweetheart.” Robby tries gruffly. “C’mon. This is dramatic.”
“No it isn’t!” You tilt your head up to glare at Robby, chin resting on his chest, cheeks wet and hot. “He can’t call Frank pumpkin.”
“He doesn’t want to.” Robby assures you with a patience he frankly didn’t know he possessed. He holds your face in his big hands and thumbs away your tears. “You’d know that if you’d actually listen to him.”
Your glare turns into a pouty scowl. You take in a shaky breath. Robby raises his brows and nods, “Yeah, there you go. Breathe.”
Another shaky breath.
Jack watches you take a couple more before he tries again. “Pumpkin,” His voice is soft. “Please look at me.”
You turn, body still pressed against Robby’s side, pout still on your face.
Jack’s expression is fiercely serious. “All the sweet names I have for you are yours— you don’t have to share ‘em with anyone, I promise.”
You move an inch away from Robby’s side. “You call Frank hon.” You point out warily. “And sweetie.”
Jack nods. “Do I use those for you very often?”
You think for a moment before shaking your head. Jack nods.
“Well there you go.”
Frank, who had been watching this whole debacle quietly from the sidelines until now, tries to help Jack out. “Trust me, princess, I don’t wanna be ‘doll’ or ‘babygirl’ or ‘pumpkin’. Hard pass.”
You huff out a laugh. “Good.” you grumble. You finally lean into Jack, who wraps his arms around you and kisses the top of your head.
