Time for Your Tune Up Part 11: Kalim Al-Asim
A/N: Sorry(but also not in advance) for going for the throat in this one. But once again, a commenter on Ao3 gave me the wicked idea for someone to finally get the full truth of what happens to Yumei after.
Who knew the recent Book 07 Update(at the time of me making this) was the perfect inspiration for the Angst you're about to read! 🤣😅
Sorry for making you sad, Kalim. I do love you, you little ball of Sunshine🙏🏽😔

“Yuuuuuumeeeeeiiii~~~~” He was suddenly glomped by a huge weight on his back. Kalim koala's him in the middle of the Main Entrance of Scarabia, excited to see him come visit him and his dorm. “I'm so excited to meet you! What brings you here!?”
The Prefect felt his face turning blue. And maybe his spine starting to dislocate.“Kalim! Can’t breathe!”
“Whoops. My bad!” He laughed while carefully climbing off the other boy. Watching the other right himself back up, he asked: “So, what brings you here?”
He fiddled with the satchel in his hands. “Is Jamil here by any chance?”
“You just missed him. He’s at basketball practice since their Team’s game is coming up next week.”
“Ah….” He felt unsure if his next step would be wise. But he trusts enough(not too much) to talk about this. “Is it ok if I talk to you, in private?”
“Sure! We could make it a party instead!”
“No, Kalim,” That caught the Housewarden off guard. “I don’t want too many ears to hear this.”
‘Ah. it’s something serious,’ He thought. “Ok.”
~Scarabia Dorm: Kalim’s Room~
“Oh…That’s what you wanted Jamil for?”
“Yeah. I didn’t want to worry you or anything.” Shortly after they situated themselves in the Warden’s bedroom, Yumei had told Kalim everything regarding his supplements, and how he needed to take them every three months.
“I can help you!” The warden didn’t think it sounded too bad. If needing help taking medicine is what the Prefect wants, he can definitely help with that! (Kalim if only you knew TT_TT)
That was a bit unexpected. “You sure?! You don’t even know what my supplement looks like! For all you know, I could be making it up!”
The other boy shook his head, his decision firm and final.“No way! I know you wouldn’t lie to me.”
“The Winter Break Incident!”
“That was different. You were trying to stop Jamil from hurting me!”
‘It was more than that,’ He internally wept. “But-”
“No buts!” Kalim said as he saw the dual eyed boy continue to make excuses. He watched him deflate into his cushion before he moved his satchel in front of him. He opened the bag so he could let the platinum blonde take out one of the Life Extending Agents. Once he got hold of one, Kalim was surprised about how it almost looked like a crystal.
“THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO TAKE?! IT’S SO GURTHY!!” He laughed.
“Don’t remind me…” Yumei sweated. “So, my port is pretty close.” He patted his chest, right above his Heart.
“I just put it in, right?”
“Yup. Gently, though, ok?” Once he saw Kalim nod, he leaned back into the cushions, hoping that making himself comfortable would lessen the pain.
Agent in hand, Kalim climbed over him and raised it over his heart and lowered it down. “Ow!”
“Ah, sorry!”
“No no! This is normal!” In a panic, the bluenette grabbed his wrist so he didn’t move away.
“You sure?”
“Yes. Please, don’t stop!” Yumei ignored the tears pricking his eyes. “Please keep going!”
He was still nervous about it, and still thought about stopping. But the Prefect still wants this, and as Housewarden he is supposed to help his fellow students, even if they’re from entirely different dorms.“O-ok.”
Kalim continued to push down the Life Extending Agent into his friend’s chest, trying to offer words of comfort the best way he could as the younger boy squirmed beneath him.
“Almost got it…There. It’s all inside now, Yumei.” Kalim released a breath he didn’t know he was holding.
“Thank you, Kalim,” He panted, letting go of his wrist. “Ah, sorry ‘bout that.”
“It’s fine. Doesn't hurt one bit,” He assured his friend. He moved to help him sit up slowly.
They sat in silence for a moment before Kalim spoke up again. “Does Grim know?” He saw his friend flinch at the cat’s name, and saw him nod with a solemn expression. “Um, if you don’t mind me asking. After forty…what happens then?”
“I...pass on.”
“Oh…” Deep down, he had a feeling that was the case. He’s been near that long enough to know to savor every moment he has with the people around him. “Next time, as in three months from now. Could I still help, Yumei?”
He looked up at his senior in shock. “Kalim. You would burden yourself with helping me? With this?!”
“Well, yeah. You’re my friend. And friends help each other.”
“You know Jamil-”
“I know he and I are a different case! But…you’re different.”
He was close to crying. The Reyvateil wasn’t expecting this during his time in this world. He hugged him then, tightening his hold on the second year, voice wavering as he spoke. “Sure. You can help me til then.”
Later, Timeskip:
“Daddy.”
“Yes, Summaya?” Kalim’s wise gaze turned to his young daughter, who was no more than five.
Her dual colored eyes looked at his; nervous but hopeful. “Are we gonna visit Papa today?”
‘Ah, right.’ It’s been about five years since then, hasn’t it? “Yes, we are.”
Taking the little one’s hand in his, the merchant heir and his heiress transcended the halls of the palace, heading towards a special place in the palace garden guarded by Pink Carnations, Lavenders, and White Orchids. They were some of his favorite flowers, so the Sultan made sure that they were planted and tended to every day for him.
It wasn’t long before they reached their destination. A special shine laid hidden in the flowers of the Asim state. Dedicated to the one who his everything. His Habibi who passed on a few days after his fortieth birthday. Etched in a silver plaque was his name.
Yumei Archambeau-Asim
3XXX-3XXX
A hard worker, friend, and Love One. His memory will forever live on in Song.
Even now, looking at his lover’s tombstone, it was hard for him not to feel emotional. But he held it in; their daughter wanted to see him again today. “Hello, Habibi. How’ve you been?”
No response.
“A-anyway, Summaya wanted to say hello to you.” He gently nudged her forward.
“Hi, Papa. I made this for you today,” She pulled out a small card with a doodle of her dads and her together, surrounding a birthday cake. The top of the picture read “Happy Birthday!” in blues and reds, the same colours her Daddy said he used to wear all the time. “I wanted to give you a pink flamingo parade, but Daddy said no.” She pouted.
She heard him chuckle behind her. “The birds would ruin the flowers, Ya Amar.” He patted her head.
“But he did let me do this for you. It’s a song he helped me make for you.” Cradling her picture carefully, Summaya started to sing.

~You can float in your dreams, or gaze at the shadows.~
As his daughter sang her song, Kalim let his silent tears fall. He worked hard to try and work through the pain of losing Yumei. He knew what he was getting into when he told him the truth, but he still stood by him. He loved him so much.
A gentle breeze came by as Summaya’s song began to slowly end, a faded ghost stood beside his beloved sultan and child. Smiling at his family, Yumei embraced them both with one sentence. “Melenas, Kalim. Till we meet again, my Sultan.”

2nd A/N:There were two songs that helped inspired this chapter to be as long as it was. Definitely recommend a good listen to!
Reisha's Lullaby and Eternally Bonded
