Sapphire Adventure 2, Chapter Five

HERO
Sapphire skidded to a stop in the middle of the square, looking up at the hedgehog standing above her.
This figure definitely was a hedgehog, with surprisingly orderly black, upturned-quills with pinkish-red stripes on them. She wore a tattered pale blue hospital gown that accentuated the tufts of dirty white chest fur that ringed her dark brown muzzle. Slitted red eyes with a greenish tint to them were focused on the hedgehog below her. Golden rings shone on her bare wrists and her ankles, seeming to be the top of the weird high heels she had on; they had a white tip, red soles, and a black background. She had red stripes on the underside of her legs and her arms, and on two of her fingers. She was skinny (Though not in a pretty way—well, not like she wasn’t pretty—no, focus, Sapphire!) in an unnatural way, with the gown clinging to the shape of her body and revealing the indent of her ribs.
“It all starts with this—a jewel containing the ultimate power,” The hedgehog said with a straight face, her deep voice monotone like she was reading off of a script. “I am known as Shadow, and as the Ultimate Lifeform.”
“Hey, wait!” Sapphire exclaimed, realizing what she was holding. “That’s the Chaos Emerald! You-you stole that!”
The hedgehog above her raised her eyebrow and the blue hedgehog rolled her eyes, biting her tongue. Wow, nice comeback, Sapphire. She chastised herself. “Now gimme that Emerald! What exactly are you plannin’ on doin’ with that?”
“Chaos Control!” The mobian shouted, immediately disappearing from her place and appearing midair, in front of Sapphire. Shadow fired off boosters on the underside of her heels and smoothly glided down. The blue mobian instinctively took a step back and flinched when the black hedgehog zipped towards her at impossible speeds.
The other hedgehog’s hand sparked with golden energy and a spear-like thing appeared in her hand. Shadow lashed out at Sapphire and she pinned back her ears, baring her teeth as the spear came closer. She thought for sure that it would’ve sliced her neck, but instead it barely grazed it. The collar around her neck snapped off and the blue hedgehog gasped, feeling the bare fur of her neck.
Shadow sent Sapphire a cold look and they held gazes for a moment before she teleported away and left the mobian alone in the square.
