I’m still in denial over the whole dying thing. What will happen to Mary if she is no longer queen of France? What reason would she have to stay in court? Maybe a son? Finally?
Historically, we know what happens to Mary. She spends another 9 months on French soil, grieving the loss of Francis while others come up with the list of potential marriages which goes nowhere. She then leaves France, the only home she’s really known, and heads for Scotland where she learns her way around Scottish Court and rules for about 4, almost 5 years before she marries Henry Stuart. And her life goes downhill from there tbh.
Now, on the show, I’m not quite sure because these writers can be... yeesh. But idk, they’ll probably either send her straight to Scotland not long after, do a time jump and send her to Scotland or actually keep her in French Court for a while long with bogus SLs, at least until the season’s over and then if they get a S4 for whatever Godforsaken reason, they’ll take her to Scottish Court. Or the show gets cancelled at the end of S3 LOL We’re just gonna have to wait and see.
To be frank, this is what I’m most worried about because I know the writers won’t do it justice. I know I’m making a huge assumption here but we’ve been let down before and I don’t wanna get my hopes up and I’m not even sure I’m gonna stick around long enough after Francis dies to see it unfold. But we’ll see.
