New Monstera Leaves
Its so pretty to see the new, glossy leaves unfurling!
Charlotte’s new leaf update 4/20/2024
Within a week the size of the leaf has nearly doubled relative from last week-and is about the same size --maybe a little larger--from the previous leaf generation. I counted outter and inner fenestrations and they are par with the previous leaf so that's good--i really don't like to lose fenestrations from leaf to leaf. I even had a sole 2nd degreen inner fenestration--which matches w/ previous leaf.
I also have new aerial root growth off of previous aerial roots and a new aerial root coming down the side of the wooden stake--so i'm thinking the plant has realized it's growing up a support.
The biggest monstera leaf so far. Look at those fenestrations! 💚
In February I added some fresh soil on top the pot, coffee grounds and smart release fertilizer. I can see the results now!
I have had this monstera since 2018, almost 5 years now. In our old house, she wasn't getting a lot of sun, probably was getting low light, but she did pretty good. Then, she moved with us to our new place and I was able to give her medium indirect light and she is super happy!
I love the mini monstera so much. It was so worth waiting and looking for one that would really captivate my heart <3
So, I welcome a big boy into my collection today! Did you notice his second set of fenestrations?! He will fit nicely with his variagated family, the adansonii, and my new monstera sp Peru.
I went to a greenhouse and saw a $65 10in pot with him in it. Since I have already bought a 10" plant here in WI aand I have to drive it back to CO in about month I didn't want to buy the whole plant, just the mature section of the plant ( the theory is if you propagate a mature leaf it will produce a more mature leaf). I therefore asked a young high school employee who didn't know very much about the plant if I could buy a cutting and she sold me two of them for $12. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!
The new leaf on a Elizabeth I has fully unfurled and flatted. I really love the light green of the newer leaves. Also this leaf has 7 fenestrations, up from 5 in the previous leaf. 🌱👨🏻
New leaf on Elizabeth I; Its fascinating how fast the leaves grow; when this new leaf was starting to push out, it was tiny but she's now pretty big and there are some fenestrations; the previous leaf had 5, so I'm hoping it is at least 5 on this one too.
