𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐂𝐀𝐍'𝐓 𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐏 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐅. Clemency's appearance of an upright citizen was imperfect to those with the necessary perception and knowledge, but that did not mean that she did not continue to make her best attempt at it. Every odd generation would come to know her well, to fawn over her talent and become fond of her eccentricities.
This omen did not have to walk among the townspeople. It would be far easier to become their ruin if she did not know their names, their occupations, their families — but what would be the fun in that? Would she not become so lonely?
"Who is acting coy, sir?" There is no doubt that, in the face of this question, she is the guilty one. This much is evident in the curve of her merlot lips, the glimmer of her eyes as they gaze up at him through her lashes.
Despite her playful countenance, she is innocent of the matter at hand. Gaze shifts to study the photo held aloft before her as she shifts to rest her shopping basket in the crook of her elbow.
"I have not seen this man. He has been reported missing, you said?"
