Alberto doesn't understand sea folk customs and courtesy because he's been living mostly on land with his father. When he meets Luca he, by accident, acts inappropriately. He touches Luca's tail without asking him first, flaunts his fins in an immodest way and even swims flirtatiously at times. All without being aware anything is wrong.

Luca is either too shy to correct him or secretly likes how bold and indifferent he acts.
