16, 17, 18? :]
16. A book you already want to reread?
Cop out answer but I can’t think of one! I’m not much of a re-reader, and if I do it’s usually at least a couple years later.
17. Top five books of the year?
-The State of Affairs by Esther Perel is a nonfiction that was really insightful and made me think about cheating in ways I hadn’t thought about before.
-Revolting Prostitutes by Molly Smith and Juno Mac similarly taught me a lot and clarified ideas that I already had about sex workers’ rights.
-Ocean’s Godori by Elaine U. Cho is a sci-fi that felt a little clumsy but I loved the heart of.
-Policing the Womb by Michele Goodwin was another striking nonfiction about the criminalization of miscarriages and abortions.
-Sorrowland by Rivers Solomon was a unique and moving speculative novel about bodily transformation.
-I’m cheating and adding on The Hunter’s Gambit by Ciel Pierlot even though I haven’t finished it, because I’m enjoying it so much as a vampire novel.
18. Least favourite books of the year?
The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose was a mystery that had an interesting setup but kind of flopped the ending miserably and also suffered from ridiculous heterosexuality. Sad!
Other than that one, I was satisfied with most of the other books I read this year!
hey ferrous haven't been on tumblr for a minute but iirc youre a storygraph user. do you recommend? kind of trepidatious about "logging" type apps and sites, but i really want a letterboxed for books that ISN'T goodreads
hi yes!! i love storygraph, it has a lot of cool metrics about like what genres and stuff you’re reading but nothing too invasive. and it doesn’t use your data for advertising afaik!! so much much better than the amazon-owned one which is constantly trying to advertise to you. i definitely recommend trying it out 💪
helloooo does anyone have the link to that post that’s like an art series (?) of a woman holding a giant worm? it’s like a photoshopped picture or maybe a super realistic prop
boyfriend meeting parents in 48 hours 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 everybody wish me luck

it has been crazy experiencing Baby’s First Trauma Response recently. like i feel very lucky to have so much knowledge about trauma responses and resources and support etc. but it was just wild being like. “why am i still having nightmares about this. what possible reason do i have to be thinking about this nonstop. it wasn’t even that bad.” im aware these are all 100% expected trauma responses but it just gets me sometimes LOL. this is all new to me!!
