The Tasty Adventures Awaiting You at Lightning in A Bottle

Lightning in A Bottle takes place May 24-29, 2017 in Bradley, CA – which is about half way between LA and SF. Topping my list of favorite festivals, LIB is much more than just a rave or music festival. It’s a full on experience with so much to explore. In order to get the most from LIB, you want to read up on all the offerings beforehand so you don’t get overwhelmed upon arrival. My previous post covered the Compass Workshops and Learning sections of LIB, and this time I’d like to dive into the food vendors we’ll have the chance to explore!

You might not know it, but the LIB team is very particular about who they let into their festival to vend. To be admitted, each of the vendors were required to source all foods organically and local to the Bradley area. Next, they have to offer healthy dietary options with no non-compostable waste. Last, they number of meat vendors is limited in generally, but those who do opt to serve it must demonstrate that their meet comes from an ethical source where animals are treated humanely. I’d say that’s pretty awesome for a festival to take such an initiative in this way. 

So here’s a full list of the vendors this year, with some notes on what they have if it’s not clear from their names. You can read more on LIB’s site here if you'd like to as well.

Six LIB Coffee locations will be available on site, beginning their services at 7am, with three inside the festival staying open extra late into the night. Coffee served at the festival is Peets Coffee & Tea, Immordl Nitro Super Coffee, GTs Kombucha and more.

Eating delicious food at LIB is a huge part of the experience. I love trying new things and I’ve always found the prices to be reasonable at this festival. Tickets are still on sale, but this festival is going to sell out again this year, so buy them earlier vs later. And don’t forget to add a $2 carbon offset to your ticket purchase 🙂 it’s at the bottom of the page when you pick your tickets!

What I'm Actually Packing for Festival Season This Year

Okay so last time I posted about finally finding a techwear brand that didn't feel like a costume, a bunch of you asked what I actually ended up buying and what I'm planning for the season. So here's the real breakdown.

I ordered the Tech Core Zip Cargo first because I needed something that could handle a full day of walking and still not feel bulky by 2am. Been living in it since. Went back and looked at their full lineup recently because I want to build out the rest of the set before the next round of festivals — thinking the Cyber Utility Skirt for something that isn't just pants for once, and maybe the Vector-V tee since black-on-black is basically my whole aesthetic at this point.

Also — completely unrelated tangent but not really — I've been low-key planning out which festivals I even want to hit this year and found this breakdown of the best techno festivals happening in 2026 and what to actually wear to each one. It's genuinely useful, not just vibes — breaks down heat vs cold sets, how much walking to expect, that kind of thing. Saved it because I'll probably reference it when I'm packing.

Still slowly building the wardrobe piece by piece but I'm not mad about how it's coming together.

Got an email from UCAS yesterday saying that there was an update to my application. This, I assumed was the university issuing me with an interview date but when I opened it, it terned out I have been given an unconditional place on the course without even an interview!

Me= Chuffed (and feeling like a bit of a clever cloggs...which is new ^_^ )

And in other news: campervan curtains are now hanging nicely in the van, the matress has been patched up and fitted, the cushions are in, I found a freecarpet today...WIN, and I have all the festival gear ready to go.

Drawing nearer

Firstly, I cleaned my bedroom. DEEP CLEANED. it was rank.

But now I feel fresh and clean and my mind can be clean and organized now too.

Secondly, I have been offered a phone interview for the Trainee Zoo Keeper position in Florida :D

This make me nervous but exceptionally exited as well!

And my Biogeography book arrived today as well, its very scary and intense looking so better crack on with that soon too.

But no sign of my costume....which is concerning as I have only two days for it to arrive.ffs.
