Dolce Paganne a.k.a Ceren Aksungur is an Istanbul origin artist based in Antwerp.
Artist focus in her surreal drawings on the “sinister” aspect that resides in the details of daily life.
“Horror” is consumed in contemporary society not only by popular culture such as movies, tv shows, video games in the sense of “violence porn” but also by mind control mechanisms of the media, drugging society while social disasters or wars occur.
We are not sensible or active as we were before when we confront violence. Psychopathology surrounds us every day and we remain paralyzed behind the chaos. What creates real horror today?
Obsessed with the hypnotic aspects of geometric forms, she loves constructing her work originated from a feeling like “sleep paralysis”, around images like dream/nightmare sequences.
Besides that, she loves examining plants and birds, reading Asian horror comic books, occult history, ancient mythology, watching dark movies and enjoys a lot listening to music.
