They can be killed, though. They fake to eat human food if the situation requires it, but it's tasteless for them, and they have to spill it out later, or it might hurt them.
What White does is eat her own people. When some of her kind want to adopt the kids just to eat them, she kills them and consumes them. It makes her less hungry, and it also provides her with nutrients, but the constant need to feed is always there, since their diet is basically human flesh. She makes wine with the blood of those who kills, that's why most of the time she's drinking ( she's an alcoholic).
