If you're in a flare-up right now, please remember this doesn't mean you've failed; flares can happen for all sorts of reasons.
And it doesn't mean you are any less deserving of support and compassion. Ask for help and be gentle with yourself.
Are you hydrated? Here's your reminder to grab a cuppa or top up that drink bottle ✌️
It's always ok to rest. Take some time out. Spend time in a dark and quiet space. Nap if you need it.
You're not a bad person. You're not lazy. You're looking after yourself.
Chronic pain is not in your head
Chronic pain is not your fault
Chronic pain is not easy to live with
A reminder for everyone dealing with chronic illness...
You don't need to push yourself too far.
It doesn't matter if it would make you look "normal".
It doesn't matter if it would make someone else happy or give them hope.
It doesn't matter if people think you're rude. Or if they think you're lazy. Fuck them.
It doesn't matter if you could do it last week.
It's not worth it!
For anyone else having a shit time with chronic illness...
You can do everything right and still have a flare
You can do everything right and still be in pain
You can do everything right and still get worse
You can do everything right and still feel like you're struggling
You can do everything right and people will still be assholes
It's not you.
Hang in there.
Hey, you with the chronic pain – make sure you check in with your body and relax those muscles you've been tensing ✌️
