With vibes that span from casual to posh to eclectic, the pan Asian restaurant @eatdrinkanthem is winning on every level and easily #fickleapproved. The place has a friendly, warm atmosphere and a funky velvety 70’s theme with Tom Sellick peering knowingly from outlying edges of the space. The food and cocktails outshine even the space and it’s easy to see why they were voted best new restaurant in America by a panel from @usatoday. My fave drink maybe in the world now is the ‘Cheech and Chong” shown here with melt in your mouth brisket wantons. Travel back to the more opulent side of 70’s casual and ask for Maxwell as your guide... you can’t go wrong! Walking into @stelmobrewing is a breath of fresh air. Part bar, part beer hall and part beer garden, they offer choices galore. Friendly and sometimes boisterous neighbors jovially greet one a another. . . Beer and People: that’s what the non pretentious neighborhood bar @stelmobrew is all about. Tucked at the end of warehouse row that hosts @still_atx @theaustinwinery and @spokesmancoffee , this little place is right where it should be because you will want to stay a while. Half of the amazing duo @atxfoodchronicles (Vanessa) and I met there to catch up and take pics and we were WOWED to say the least. @soursop_austin, the insight food truck was not an afterthought but thoughtfully chosen by the co-owners of St Elmo. It’s FRYNALLY FRIDAY! So give me ALL the fried things!! Fried chicken, fried fries, fried rice (kimchi and bacon fried rice mmmm). What are some of your fave fried foods? I don’t know about you but I’ve been going going going all week and weekends don’t happen for me until Monday! Here’s the truth. It’s so fun doing all of these events and meeting people and promoting their dreams and unique offerings to the world but I get exhausted! So sometimes I like to take a little rest and the other day I decided to rest belly up to the diner style bar at I Bonchon in Round Rock. One thing I love about Austin is how she calls people here and it’s usually the kind of people that want to share their corner of the world with us. At Bonchon I got to experience Korean comfort food as I spent a couple hours talking to the staff and the owner while inhaling my food (after the camera ate of course). I truly experienced Korean comfort food, but in “my hometown” which is what “Bonchon” means. The thrice fried chicken is so crunchy that I didn’t need all of the breading I usually love and the kimchi and bacon fried rice had me and my family swooning. I’ve seen yelp reviews that were a bit condescending and negative but the place was packed for lunch. And I didn’t see one frowny face! If you want fancy gourmet fusion you may not want to go here, this place is all about handcrafted comfort food that will warm your heart and your belly! The staff was excellent and welcoming and the food was what it’s advertised to be. Good morning and HAPPY MONDAY! New week l, new you and a happy brew! My cabinets are stocked with this bountiful gift from my friends at @kohanacoffee and I couldn’t be more content! One of the things I’m having to do besides eat differently because of my thyroid raising hell, is find peace and tranquility even if it’s only on my mind, in stressful situations.
