I want a tale where they show a back story about this cause damn Abuela was thriving
But a tale is unlikely so I decided to make Headcanons instead
Beto, Rico Ferrer and Padre Joya as Sofia's Suitors Headcanons:
-In these headcanons I imagine the characters around their 20's to 30's
•Very similar to Chava because of the whole childhood friend trope.
•Chess playmates. Beto would often lose but most of the time he'd do it on purpose to see Sofia's proud smile whenever she wins.
•I can see him arguing with Rico whenever Rico would take Sofia on "not so safe" dates.
•Helps Sofia with the plantation. He'd always bring an umbrella for Sofia.
•"Sofia play chess with me, you've been working all day"
•Sergio. Do I need to explain further? No. Like Sergio, he's charming and shamelessly flirts with Sofia.
•Expensive luxurious dates. He'd wear something red to empress Sofia.
• Adventurous dates or as Beto likes to call it "not so safe dates." Surfing, racing, you name it he has it.
•Rico often gave Sofia jewelry, he made sure all of them are different shades of red.
•"As mush as I love the two of us being business partners, don't you think we'd be better off as lovers mi lujo?"
•I have a feeling he's the type that looks out for Sofia from a far.
•He's the shy type that cares for you and takes you a while to notice it.
•While Rico and Beto are busy arguing over Sofia he just casually swoops in and make his move.
•I imagine them going to church together, stealing glances and him slightly blushing when their shoulders brush.
•Sofia, going to church as well? Would you like to walk with me then?
