pov: your fictiotype is smart but you are not
(this homework is making it very obvious)
do you have any ideas how figure out kin types because I think I might be vampire kin but also IDK
Hi !
I understand that finding your type is difficult, don't forget that your search can last months or even years, so don't put pressure on yourself !
You don't have to use all the advice I give you, because you are the only one who knows what works for you and what doesn't.

I advise you to :
Make a list of all your nonhuman experiences, personality traits, reflexes, needs, feelings, etc! You can do this in the form of an alter/nonhuman journal, if you want(notebook or small notepad where you write down information about your alter/nonhumanity to better understand yourself) Don't forget that some shifts can be cameo shifts! (cameo shift = when you shift into something/someone that is not your kintype)This will help you see things more clearly. 📝
Make a list of vampires from different cultures! Many creatures are different depending on cultures or regions of the world. (dragons are my best examples ^^). List all possible types of vampires, then research each one!🌍
Look for vampire-like creatures! Vampires are surely not the only ones who have pale skin and feed on blood ¯\_(ツ)_/¯📖
Watch documentaries! Yes, there are documentaries about creatures. It might help you :3🖥️
Make a sketch! Do you have phantom limbs? Do you feel like you're missing a part of your body? If so, sketch all of these body parts, then put them together! Maybe it's not very precise, as a technique, but it might put you on the right track. 🖌️
Search for terms similars to otherkins! If the definition of otherkin or fictionkin doesn't completely match your feelings, don't forget that there are words that are not very well known, which could perhaps describe you! For example, a cambikin fluctuates between a kin identity and a kith identity. A shapeshifter has non-human experiences without identifying with their type and without having a particular connection with that. I recommend you to visit "otherkin wiki" or "therian wiki" (therian wiki is not only about therians) to discover new terms!🔍
Spend time in the vampirekins community! Share your experiences and learn about their feelings. Do you feel like you belong here? Do you feel like you are part of a different community than this one? [Remember that alterhumanity is different for each individual, if your experiences are different, it doesn't necessarily mean you're not a vampiekin] 🧛♂️
Take a step back. Take the time to spot all the little clues you can find in your everyday behavior.💭
consider yourself a vampirekin, then ask yourself later if that holds up or not.❓

There you go, I hope I helped you :3
Remember that finding your identity should not be a source of frustration, it should just be an enriching exercise in introspection. Take your time.
Take care of yourself, drink water, don't forget that as long as you don't hurt anything or anyone voluntarily, you are valid! Have an amazing day/night! Bye!

Why I Identify As Theriomythic
(and maybe why you should too)
One of the great things about the Alterhuman community, and maybe one of its many downfalls as well, are the many, many labels found within it. While the obvious like Otherkin, Therian, and Fictionkin come to mind, there are many labels you can find online so specific that only a few really use them. Heck, I was scrolling the other day and saw the term Otherpunk for the first time.
One label that has a longer history yet is oftentimes overlooked is Theriomythic. Officially defined as someone who straddles both the Otherkin and Therian communities, Theriomythics tend to be people with multiple kintypes with some being mythical and others earth-based, people that have mythical kintypes that act more animalistic, or someone who in general is more connected to the Therian community with a non-theriotype kintype. The term was first coined in 2010 on the website Therian Wilderness, however, another term called “Weremythic” was coined back in 1996 with a nearly exact definition.
For someone like me, this is the perfect label for me. Having been introduced to the Alterhuman community through Therianthropy, my relationship with the Therian community dates back to my awakening. I have always felt more connected with Therianthropy through its expression: forests, Celtic imagery, Native flute music, flannels, clip-on tails, dog collars. The “aesthetic” of Therianthropy has always spoken to me.
On top of the aesthetic factor, my first steps into my Alterhuman identity was through the website Therian Guide (the actual guide and not the forum). That website helped me immensely and, despite the creator of the website, it has some great information. From there I joined a forum called Kinmunity where I started talking to others like me. It is a great website with lots of in-depth discussions and articles and overall just great people.
Because I entered the community from the Therian side and first heard of the term Otherkin merely through the lens of someone being Alterhuman just with a mythical Theriotype, I was in for quite a shock when I joined the website that would become my main social media platform for my middle and high school self: Tumblr.
Joining Tumblr in 2016, I realized very quickly that the Otherkin on here was a lot different than the Otherkin talked about on Kinmunity. Fictionkin, for one, was quite the culture shock, and having jumped onto the website when everyone gained a new Fictiotype every new episode of Steven Universe, the word “fluff” didn’t even scratch the surface. But to be fair I was a part of that trend, too, getting a kintype list of 20 strong and rotating out kintypes every two weeks.
While I was technically Otherkin by definition of the term, I didn’t identify with the community that would soon become the mainstream image of what Otherkin are like. There were few deep discussions on Kin-blr, it was just a cesspool of discourse, discourse, and more discourse.
Side note: remember when that one Youtuber was making that cringe compilation of us and everyone went nuts? Those were the good ole days…
So when I found the term Theriomythic, it stuck. It both described my Otherkin side with my elven and draconic kintypes, but also kept me connected to the Therian community I have always loved and connected with. And as a Polymorph as well, it feels like such a fluid label as both, describing both parts of me that are connected to the planet we live on but also everything beyond it.
Of course, this is all just my experience and opinion. What do you all think?
Na'vi kin??
I've watched the avatar a while ago and I decided to revisit it yesterday. And, when I say this weird feeling was overwhelming, I mean it.
As I learnt about the lives of the Na'vi, suddenly my brain started to piece things together. And me, as a person with no fictiotype, tried to push it down because, "how can identify as a species that's completely fictional?" (and I am extremely sorry for invalidating otherkin and fictionkin.)
After the movie, I looked more into the Na'vi; their language, religion, habitat, families, and I felt a sense of belonging. So now, I'm questioning Na'vikin, and possibly even Neytirikin
Sorry this post was a bit long, but I'd appreciate it if any fictionkin reading could share their experiences and give some advice :)) <3
blessed be.
I'm pretty sure I'm angelkin or harpykin or both, but I've been looking into synpaths and I have found a ton of characters I'm really connected to. It's not a kin, there's no past life influence or any of that, but seeing them makes me feel safe? Example : Steve Rogers. I don't think I kin with him but I will recognize him as myself and sympathize with him beyond that of most characters. I will insert myself into his stories and if I were him. I don't know if I kin with him, not from a past life standpoint maybe from an imprint standpoint or if this is just a synpath thing?
Some Kin Ramblings
I just wanted to clarify something since I've been seeing a lot of discourse over it. You cannot choose your kintype! If you have chosen it, then it's called a heart-type. A kintype is something you believe to be you, it's not just something you like or something that you relate to. So instead of saying "that can't be your kintype because you don't share (insert experience here)", you should ask them for what evidence they have found that led them to believe they are that kintype. That is all...!
me fr
Being a polymorph is less overwhelming than the definition would imply.
You would think being defined as everything and nothing at the same time would be a no-fun time when it comes to an identity crisis, but it's really not. Being a polymorph, while it does mean being everything and nothing, it also means that that is all you’ve ever known. You don’t become a polymorph, you are born one. Born into a form of no form.
