Eli parked his hearse in front of the familiar building.
He rolled up his jacket sleeve, reading over the lyrics. He had drilled the song into his brain the night before, enough times that he could sing it Acapella. He mouthed the words, following along to the beat in his head, and then go out of the hearse. He knew Fiona was mad at him, probably upset with a lot of other things too. But he didn't want to go into his senior year without her by his side, so he would do whatever it took to win her over again. He rang for her loft, and after a few minutes, Declan Coyne came down the stairs. "Eli. Nice to see you," he said curtly. "Fiona's not going to want to see you right now. Just letting you know; she probably won't open the door for you. I'm going out to get some groceries; good luck." Eli gave the older boy a tight smile before moving past him and going into the building. He walked up to her familiar loft and knocked on the door, making her aware of his presence. He heard shuffling from inside the loft, but nobody came to the door. Eli sucked in a breath, glancing at his arm and mentally counting in his head before opening his mouth and attempting to sing loudly. "I've been alone, surrounded by darkness. I've seen how heartless the world can be. And I've seen you crying - felt like it's hopeless. I'll always do my best to make you see..."
