A VERY important question.
Do you like sardines (not as food, but aesthetically)?
If not, what kind of fish would you prefer?
I really need to know.
TWO posts in a day ...this is revolutionary. Art attack for SEVENTYP on artfight!
My first heavily customized Monster High doll: my own version of Monster Ball Lagoona Blue
This is the original doll for comparison:
ugh, that original color-combo, hurts my eyes.
Painted the whole doll with acrylic craft paints. Dress was from a dollar store, modified with sewn-on glass beads. Purse and starfish headband was from a Barbie accessory set (headband painted, more beads added to hair). I made the shoes from scratch (followed a YouTube video on how to, and surprisingly paper shoes will stay on! ). Lots of other beads and suck wired and glued-on. I can see a few little touch-ups I need to do, but other than that, she's done! And oops on the wrinkles on her dress, didn't notice that somehow when I was snapping photos (otherwise would've tugged it down a bit)
She's so, so shimmery in the sun! As a fish-girl should be!

this is not a dinosur but please do not be alarmed.

The G3 Lagoona repaint is done! Sorry for quicky grainy photos in my kitchen, will do a better photoshoot once all details and the outfit is done (still need to web her fingers)
I didn't do it how one is supposed to.... didn't sand rough edges, spray sealant, thin the acrylic then do water-colored pencil... nope I slathered the acrylic right on. Shades of light blue, turquoise, dove grey, cottage white... a touch or coral (haha coral, get it!) under her nose, in the corner of her eye, and on her cheeks .... the rest of the face is a combo or acrylic with a little watercolor pencil touches. Acrylic dots for more texture to make her more like sealife.... plus some rough gills. Then I put a shimmery topcoat of iridescent green (clear, only shines green in the light). Most doll mods have flat bodies/faces, with the eyes and lips shiny.... her eyes and lips are flat paint because the REST of her is shiny.
I struggled with what to do with her eyes and lips, but happy with what I settle with... a lilac lip to match the purple streaks in her hair, and green up-looking eyes (tried side-eye- tried straight-on, tried more realistic) because I wanted her to look friendly... but not too cartoony/cheesy ... I imagine she's underwater, thinking about swimming up.
as a reminder, this is what she started out as:
