The Parents (Part 1)
Grandparent Families
Me, about 3 years ago: I decided to come up with grandparents for Hunter and Polly! Don't worry, I won't make parents of the grandparents. That would be way too much lol! I'm not going to get THAT carried away!
Me, right now: OH NO I GOT CARRIED AWAY!!!!
Also these are just concept doodles, so yeah lol. So don't expect me to know everything about them all. Though if you want to ask about any of them, I'd love to answer! I mean, I do have some ideas for them.
I dunno if I'll ever do much with any of these Rapos, but it's nice to actually have them there!
Me about a year or two ago: Well the relationship between Colette and Filibert is kinda odd and different than a normal couple. They love and care about each other, sure, but a lot of times (if not most of the time) they act more like they're really good friends instead of a romantic couple. But they aren't just friends because they're married, have a kid, and do act romantic toward each other once in a while. It's complicated and I can't describe their relationship in just a few words. In fact, this is only the most basic summary of the relationship I can think of. It's actually even more complex!
Me now: ...Wait. Wouldn't their relationship be considered a QPR?
Colette and Filibert. What crimes will they commit?
Been thinking about Alternate Universes for my DtL ocs. Like a lot. And they all have to do with Hunter and his fam because of course it does.
Here's a list of the AUs I have so far.
The Polly lives/Life in the wild AU:
Instead of Hunter getting separated by his family and being raised by baki, he sticks around. Because of this, Polly doesn't risk her life to find Hunter. So now Bongo won't have enough energy to come to life until Polly dies/gets old/a different major event were to happen. So now she actually lives her life in full. However, the family is still driven away from the village due to the darkness, and they'll live in the wilderness. Hunter, although no longer grown up with baki, will become a somewhat feral character as a way to cope with what happened.
The Meet the Grandparents AU:
When Polly and Hunter are young, Nixie gets over her fear of returning to her parents, and decides to introduce her new family to them. There's nothing too serious plot wise, but it's very cute. And I love it.
The Hunter is a bit of a blunt jerk/everything is the same (at first) but Hunter experiences toxic masculinity in a different way AU:
After a while of living with the baki (maybe around the time he get rejected by 'imaginary Sandy'?), Hunter beats himself up for being too soft and decides to toughen himself. His ideas, thoughts, and morals are the same, but his attitude is very different. Unlike the regular Hunter, this Hunter doesn't beat around the bush nearly as much. He will tell you if he doesn't like something or is in a bad mood. Also unlike the regular Hunter, this one will try his hardest not to show others when he is feeling a 'weak emotion' such as guilt and sadness. If he feels the need to cry, he'll either try holding it back or do so in private. Unfortunately for him, one of the things he has in common with the regular Hunter is that he experiences those kind of emotions A LOT. And also like the regular Hunter, he doesn't really like that about himself and will sometimes beat himself over it. Except this version of Hunter actively LOATHES this all the time. Despite this, the plot is pretty much the same. If anything, this Hunter's extra snappyness might make it go slightly faster.
However, after being reunited with his family (and Sandy) in Watersong, he reacts to something important differently than regular Hunter. It's so important that it puts him on a completely different plot. And it's more angsty and upsetting than the regular plot.
Ok that earlier comic made me think of something. If Colette was in a similar situation to us (corona virus), what would she do? (Don't worry, that wouldn't happen, I'm pretty sure.)
Since it's kinda a meme, I think she would probably joke about stealing all the toilet paper lol. Not that she'd actually do that. (Although I feel like a bunch of people would take her seriously oof) But she would be super annoyed that people are panicking and hoarding stuff when they don't need to. (Like most people would) She wants groceries dang it!
But would she steal from the people hoarding stuff?? She would really want to do that, but I think Nixie or Filibert (her husband) would stop her and she'd have no choice but to listen to them. (Mostly because stealing from innocent people makes you look bad lol. She wants to look good)
BUT! What if there was someone buying stuff and reselling it for higher prices? Nixie still wouldn't be happy about stealing their things, but Filibert would probably approve (figuring that person was doing an awful thing, they deserve it! It could also make you look like a hero!) And so she'd probably do that.
But what would she do with what she stole? Figuring it's difficult to get groceries, she'd probably hoard it. Although Nixie would try convincing her to give it all away. And Filibert would partially agree (giving away stuff people need for free DOES make you look good), although he'd suggest giving only some of it away to a few close people (nobody wants strangers knocking on your door asking for coffee and toilet paper). And that's probably what would happen.
Sooo Picrew, huh?
