Hey all! Here's a preview of the piece I did for this year's @swimonzine!

Swim On is a charity zine that donates all proceeds to FinFree for shark conservation. This will be the 10th (and currently last planned) edition of Swim On, and it's a "pay what you can" zine, so you can get it for as little as $1 -- check it out here!

So i did a thing! Im super happy with it!! Please spread the word!! Shark culling is becoming a serious problem and its our job to speak up and stop this complete and utter bullshit!! Take the pledge and take a step to making the world a fin free one, where sharks can actually exist and not be hunted in their own territory!

So, Shark Week is over, done, vanished until next year. BUT that doesn’t mean that awareness for the Finfree movement should stop. I will be sharing more updates on the finfree movement on my blog so don’t worry. To me, I can’t be out there helping. 1st of all I wouldn’t know how other than getting a degree in marine biology and knowing how to scuba dive or become lawyer. But I do know, knowing facts and spreading knowledge will give other people the opportunity to contribute to the cause whether that is donating, buying products that give the proceeds to the organizations or signing the petition to ban finning. I believe it is important to be involved in the world somehow; Make your appearance on this earth worth-while.

I will be making a video either today or tomorrow of a shark speed painting. I’m pretty sure I will be selling the piece having the full sale excluding shipping to go to the organizations fighting for FinFree.  I’m kind of excited. I haven’t made a speed painting video in a while and I’ve never drawn a shark before so this should be interesting. But I can promise it will be awesome!

Anyways, I thought I would share some of my favorite shark movie posters and some that I thought were just funny. You know, as inspiration haha.

You guys are awesome! Not only did you clean us fresh out of shark fin soap, but over 350 people have already come in to sign our petition to go #finfree! The effort to keep sharks in the picture doesn't just stop with us, though- help us teach the next generation about how they can continue the quest to #savesharks.

Sharks – the apex predators of the oceans – have survived 400 million years of evolution, yet many species may face extinction within our lifetime. Up to 100 million sharks are being killed every year, most often their bodies are discarded and only their fins are kept to be used in Shark Fin Soup – a delicacy in some Chinese restaurants. Over hunting of the world’s largest fish has caused severe declines among many shark species, including the iconic Great White. Currently a third of shark species are threatened with extinction, and some populations have plummeted by over 90%. The situation has become so dire that China has decided to ban Shark Fin Soup at official state banquets. In the U.S. several states to date (including California, Oregon, Hawaii and New York), have introduced state-wide bans on shark fins, with more states in the process of introducing bans. Sharks are essential to the health of our oceans. As apex predators, sharks maintain a critical balance in the ocean. When sharks are eliminated, disastrous effects have been documented further down the food chain, including the collapse of commercial fisheries and the degradation of coral reefs. If sharks were to become extinct, this would have massive unintended consequences for our ocean ecosystems worldwide. Time is running out for the world’s shark populations.
