Distant sounds of various monsters echoed through the abandoned mansion. Their growls and occasional skirmishes were commonplace. However, there were reports of screams coming from within the mansion, as well. Yet no one had dared to confirm if such sounds were coming from the monsters, who were known to reside there, or if there was a ghost in their midst. In some ways, the answer was both. For beyond the luxurious cloisters and buried deep the make-shift dungeon, a young man dressed in crimson lay tormented within his casket. Alone in the dark, with only his demons seeking dominance of his mind, not a single night had passed without enduring a restless sleep. Such was his punishment, and he had willed this to be his tomb. But fate had other plans.

Shrouded in a deep lust for violence, a wanderer had made his way into the mansion. Not a soul had witnessed this stranger enter the gates. And even if they had, there wasn't a single Nibelheimer who would have gone after him for fear of the monsters. Not only that-- anyone who may have attempted to stop the stranger would have likely met their untimely end. That is, if they were foolish enough to ignore the burning rage behind his eyes. As the figure began to descend the mansion, the corrupt energy grew stronger-- a feeling keenly distinguished by the one who was a self-proclaimed guardian of the Mansion. The man in the coffin. And yet, he continued to lay still within the coffin; unflinching and resolute in his choice to remain a silenced memory.

I’d love to see a silly snippet of Balthier and Fran (maybe with Vaan and Penelo in tow) hitting up Shinra in a raid. Up against Turks, or maybe AGSZC.

You have destroyed me, this is now a fully fledged AU - it's going to take me a long time just to do the worldbuilding but I love that shit!

Full melding of Ivalice and Gaia - taking place on Gaia but all the races and main characters from XII exist there. Going to meld Materia and Magicite, maybe even have Midgar being a sky-city like Bujerba and the slums actually exist in the old played out mines beneath the main city!?

Airships are still a thing! Balthier is actually a Shinra bastard who, like Lazard, was being groomed to take over as a director to placate him - except he was supposed to end up director of the Turks as a corollary to being a Judge.

The Plate in Midgar is very much based on Archades, so huge Hume presence and not as many of the other species - most of them live in the slums.

Biggs is totally a Bangaa and Wedge is a Seeq because obviously! Vaan hugely looks up to Biggs, thinks he is SO COOL. Avalanche is basically the Resistance

Everything else still happened like it did in FFVII tho, like the war, Sephiroth, Nibelheim Incident. Hojo is obviously an analog for Dr. Cid and Jenova is Venat. The Occuria I'm not sure about so I'll have to think about that whole thing and also not sure what to do with Ashe.

So I'm going to try and do something with this but I don't have a very specific idea for a snippet just yet!

Instead have a rambling description of how the fic could start out!

Balthier and Fran are down in the slums, plotting to find something the Goddess' Materia (instead of the Goddess' Magicite like in XII) - which that actually exists in Crisis Core but I'm going to say its actually the White Materia perhaps?

They've taken the train down from the Plate where the airship docks are, following a lead they got from someone inside Shinra (probably Kunsel!?)

In the train station they find Cloud unconscious just as Tifa does, and Fran urges Balthier to help when Tifa is clearly struggling to try and get him up and walking. He's very longsuffering about this, like 'What am I, a chocobo? A beast of burden perhaps - ah well, such is the lot of the leading man. One must play the part of hero rather than merely extol one's own virtues.' He would absolutely either get along with Genesis wildly or they'd hate each other, ya'll should give me your thoughts on that!

Balthier scoops up Cloud, and he's a little disturbed by how easy it is, how light he is even with the SOLDIER armor. He can absolutely tell that Cloud isn't a real SOLDIER because he's only defected himself like two or three years ago, and definitely would recognize him because he would stand out.

They go to Seventh Heaven and he ends up knowing Jessie, since she's a demolitions expert and he's bought explosives from her or something. He also knows she's Avalanche, and this likely everyone there is as well. He's very interested in NOT getting wrapped up in this, but then Cloud starts waking up more and he starts getting invested because, well, he's smitten with the confused pretty boy.

So there's some plot for you, I would adore anyone else's ideas for this because I've never done a full integration crossover - or, well, any crossover actually!

Ask me ANYTHING and help me flesh this out!
