omg my first fandom ask in literal years
Yes I adore hiveswap. I was an active homestuck from 2014-2020 (and then a jump to 2025) so I followed the development up until the first acts release. I haven’t played act 2 or know anything that’s happened since. I played all of friendsim when it was serialized as well. Xefros was my fucking baby boy and I love his stupid little ass he’s so dumb
I need to sit down and replay them both, but now I feel very out of the loop with the homestuck fandom so I’ve been dragging my feet (the… social media stuff really confuses me. I don’t know who that violet blood is that keeps interviewing violet bloods and it stresses me out because it feels impossible to know what’s going on. I thought they were in-depth fantrolls…)
The Troll universe is one of my favorite parts of homestuck (beta exclusively, I cannot stand the alphas/beforeus) so getting to see their world in FULL detail, not from the snippets of 13 year olds who never leave their hives, was so thrilling to me. I mainly want to brush up on my troll knowledge so I can accurately write Castun and Silohs into the universe. (Even though there’s a few particular things I don’t agree with or have to bend and break to make their story work •3•) I actually like to imagine Castun and Silohs exist right before Joey comes to Alternia. In my little fantroll fanfic, I hint at how Trizza’s reign affects their lives even without direct involvement (my political vent place lol) especially with Castun being burgundy Silohs being violet.
Hiveswaps art style also really inspired me, a clean take on the homestuck bean style thrilled me as a teen. I want to make the little character cards for Cas & Sil along with animating a little wait cycle to show how they carry themselves.
Rambling aside, yes I love hiveswap, but I am not caught up.
