My PCP retired about a month ago. I need to go see a doctor again to get a refill of a prescription that my PCP wrote. Is there a best way to do this? Just pick a random doctor and ask for medicine? I'm really lost because I've been seeing my PCP since before my condition was diagnosed.
Lex says:
I would recommend calling your doctor’s office and asking for a referral rather than picking randomly. If your PCP’s office has other providers who worked with them then they might be a good option. Or if you have any specialists that you trust, you could ask them for a referral to a PCP at their institution. It’s always best to have the endorsement of someone you trust! You’ll need someone to follow you over time as well, so it’s always good to find someone you can develop a relationship with rather than asking for them to just give you refills.
