In all honesty, taking on the role of parent is hard. I do not view many things in life as hard anymore. But the way your being is challenged on months of very little sleep, with a body that is not in the shape it used to be, a schedule that has been flipped upside down, feeling about 2 or 3 months behind on life, a ravenous appetite from breastfeeding all day and night, and your baby is fussing with gas to be soothed while the cat cries for food is something else. It's damn hard but then you have a day where you get an extra hour of sleep, baby takes a 3 hour nap, getting rid of a pile of papers that have been sitting for months, fit in a workout, and a face mask then all is well again and I see the light of life coming into balance.
