During and after an intergalactic war, Earth is exposed to a large variety of new technologies, allowing them to expand rapidly in their technological capabilities. One of these technological advances was the creation of biological-mechanical super soldiers. These soldiers were originally only created from donated human tissue (and brains!!) but as the war progressed human tissues became harder to come by. Earth's military began utilizing tissues from other mammals to fill in the gaps, and thus created super soldiers with various non-human mammalian features. The first animal species to be utilized was the domestic dog (Canis familiarus) and thus these super soldiers became known as Cynocephali. Circuit is a cynocephalus soldier whose human body was donated after traumatic injuries in the war, resulting in loss of great portions of her human skin and also her right arm, leg, and chest, with severe damage to the right side of her face and neck. Her human brain was still intact, so restoration and conversion to a cynocephalus began. The non-human tissue used in Circuit's cynocephalus procedure was coyote (Canis latrans)-based (specifically from a leucistic coyote). She served as a cynocephalus in the war for several more years (as a footsoldier) before suffering some event that caused her to lose most of her memory, at which point she was transferred out of the military and began work on interplanetary and intergalctic space travel.
