Reed’s intention wasn’t to interrupt anything but how was he to know what Finn was up to when he walked in? All he saw was his boyfriend lying on the floor, though it looked purposeful with the pillow and didn’t raise any immediate panic.
He shut the door quietly behind him before shuffling over, stealing a second pillow from the bed as he very carefully laid down next to Finn, reaching over to take his hand and lace their fingers together before ever saying anything.
“Hey baby. Whatcha doing?”
"Tryin' to remind myself I'm real," Finn answered, eyes still closed as Reed took his hand. "My therapist thought it might help if I try tuning my senses into my surroundings or somethin'."
It was helping, he supposed, since how was it possible for his senses to register anything if he wasn't a real, corporeal person? It was at least just enough to offer a logical anchor against the more irrational parts of his fear, even if those fears were rooted in something that had been very much real before.
Finn gave Reed's hand a squeeze before rolling over to cuddle up to him, foregoing the pillow in favour of his boyfriend's chest, the sound of Reed's heartbeat having become one of Finn's favourite means of soothing himself.
