happy new year!
There was no winter, spring, summer, or fall. Growing up in our house there were only two seasons, Off-Season and Baseball Season.
This particular time of year was when my dad finally started shaving again and would trade in the velour sweatpants he wore every single day of the off-season for Hawaiian shirts and shorts when we relocated for the month of March to Florida for Spring Training. During Spring Training games, I would nap in the booth under the radio engineer’s table while my sister did homework. The Orioles team hotel pool in Miami is where I learned how to swim.
Soon it would be Opening Day at the ballpark and my father would be wearing his tuxedo. He'll be wearing one today. It is New Year's after all.
And so, to all you baseball fans out there, wherever you may be, whether you are wearing your tuxedo or your jersey, I wish you a very very “Happy New Year!”
I'll be celebrating from NYC:
These NYC Giants Fan Shirts can be found at Finnerty's in East Village, @Finnertys.
Feeling slightly enthusiastic about the San Francisco Giants' 2012 World Champions Trophy at The Castro Theatre's World Premiere of MLB's excellent World Series film. SF Giants Fans in NYC can meet the trophy in person from 2-6pm this Saturday, January 19th, at Finnerty's in the East Village!
