Pretty similar concept. The only way I can rationalise it is that our bodies are the vehicles of expressing what our soul is experiencing. So the primary channels of communication that we use would reflect those changes in temperament. So if I was around someone for long enough, I would probably be able to see the changes in their body language and overall demeanour. 

So handwriting is just another medium through which it can be observed. What's interesting for me though, is that handwriting is more sub-conscious than any other form of expression, so by looking at the handwriting and signature as a combination, it's much easier to get a more complete view of what's happening with someone.

Do you think a person's handwriting changes when they're in a different circumstance/mental state? Or would it just show the same thing as before?

Aslm...it definitely changes. Sometimes on a weekly or daily basis depending on how stressful the changes in their circumstances are. So if you go through a life changing event, chances are very good that there will be subtle or maybe even significant changes in your handwriting, but especially your signature.
