A flash of lightning. Before everything had gone DARK.

Odysseus wakes up with a gasp. Heart rate skyrocketing, lifting himself with his shaking arms. Sweat bleating from his pores. Disassociating from his surroundings. Breathing heaving AT THE REALIZATION OF WHAT HE'S DONE.

Body suddenly feeling so cold. So empty. Tears pooling at his eyes, but they can't escape his tear ducts. His tears aren't worthy to shed. Not when he's the one who chose. Chose himself over his men over, and over, and over again. Losing them to Polyphemus because of NAIVETY. Feeding them to Poseidon because of PRIDE. Offering them to Scylla because of DESPERATION. Sacrificing them to Zeus because of SELFISHNESS.

Head bows in shame, falling into his hands.

HE'S BECOME THE MONSTER.

Phen left the ring where Aedus would easily find it, her own forging, with her feather making up the red within it. The ring wasn't just any ring, however, she'd made it for a special purpose. She just hoped that after all this time, Aedus felt the same way that she did.

He'd seen it when he first stepped through the front door. The sight of it stopped him, it's unfamiliarity raising the phoenix's brow. Only a pause long enough to hang his coat on the hook behind the door, clicking the latch gentle closed, and fingers lifted the ring, careful, turning it over to examine it. And his heart stuttered.

It was gorgeous, certainly. Immaculately made. But, his eyes merely grazed across the form of it... settling, instead, on the words. Did she mean it? Did she mean what he believed she did? It slid perfectly onto his finger.

" Phen? Love, are you home...? "

Stepping out of the car was a lot, her bones ached and her sighed screamed in pain. Getting hit with a truck? Not suggested. "Fuck me..."

Her blonde hair was no longer matted in blood and dust, installing a shower in her office had been the right call. She need coffee and something that gave her the will to keep living this life that wasn't going to hate her stomach. She'd been unable to step into this bakery till now but had seen nothing but good things about it. "Morning," Keeping her voice in a calm tone as she stepped through the door taking a look at the options now available to her.
