The Firehouse Five + 2 was a dixieland jazz band that consisted of active Walt Disney animators and composers. 

They performed every Friday at this strange looking building at 4289 Beverly Blvd.

The Firehouse Five Plus Two was an actual band made up primarily of Disney animators and employees from 1945 to 1971. They released 14 albums. The band was featured in Disney’s first TV special in 1950 and later caricatured in the Goofy cartoon, How To Dance (1953).

Ward Kimball’s Firehouse Five Plus Two band appeared in some Hollywood films, including this rousing performance of “Tiger Rag” in the 1951 MGM film “Grounds for Marriage.”

At D23, @hey-really-giger and I dressed in @wardkimball attire ! I was Firehouse Five Plus Two Ward. We didn’t get recognized by too many, but some of the people we did get recognized by was the Walt Disney Family Museum, Tom K. Morris (imagineer), the people over at Walt’s Barn, and Amid, the writer of Ward’s biography! So I’d say it was a success :)
