Wolfwood Punisher Build

So I wanted this thing to be as lightweight as possible since my spouse would be lugging it around the con floor by a singular strap, but also able to maybe take a bit of beating from all that. So I landed on high density EVA foam as the simplest answer.

Witness, amazing empty boxes of foam! They have strips of foam glued along the insides of the corners to reinforce them. This continued until the whole thing was assembled, with some patching and reinforcing on the outside as well.

Once the base was finished, it was time to give it a cover. I used just good ol' undyed muslin and made more boxes, this time of fabric.

Once those were all hand sewn together at the edges, I made four super long strips of the fabric, sewed them at one end to the cross, then wrapped them around, tacking down here and there to hold in place (no images because i was crunching this). Then it was belt time!

Just a bunch of narrow belts made of leather, dyed and given basic buckles. There are...12 of them? idk, i kept somehow getting a different number of how many I needed so I no longer remember how many I ended up using. I then weathered the fabric cover with very strong black tea and a chip brush, installed the belts (they are all just holding on with tension from the buckles), and voila!

It weighs almost nothing and can stand on its own. Also, looks pretty cool!

Vash photos!! may have forgotten to post anything about the vash build here. i'll post some wips soon, but for now here are the only photos i have so far of the (mostly) finished look. gotta re-style the wig, make a new shirt, finish the gun.....

Vash Build

Trigun Stampede reignited my love of Trigun, and i was determined that i'd finally cosplay Vash, as a gift to past me. i'll do a separate post about Wolfwood's Punisher build. so let's get started with that wig!

it's an arda kyle, teased and heat trained to the right. i actually styled this twice, because i styled it, wore it, hated it, washed it, re-teased, then re-styled. but really, it was pretty straightforward: just lots of teasing, then carefully separating and making spikes with got2b + heat. so sticky though.

the coat came next, using a polyester twill for the outer & poly china silk lining for the inner, plus the sarah mcclintock pattern (option 1, the simplest for this novice sewist) plus vinyls from etsy. i sweated a lot making this (i think this is only my....3rd sleeved garment and my first coat). it got weathered with airbrush to get a dusty/dirty look.

hoo boy, the arm. all patterned by me, made of EVA foam except the fingertips, which are Worbla. it's primed in plastidip for the most part (a few parts in mod podge, and the fingies in wood glue), then acrylic paint + sealed with aleen's iridescent sealant.

boots! they're modified amazon, the toe caps are EVA foam. the paint was matte black acrylic with layers of shades of silver sponged on over.

the gun was also patterned by me, made entirely of EVA foam (a mistake - should've put a support in the core because it has a bend to it). same paint job as the boots, but with high gloss Aleen's then some weathering with water soluble oil paints and acrylics.

the gun needs a holster, right? this was also patterned by me, and made of leather for funsies and skill building.

i also made his shirt (based on one i'd previously purchased for him) but took basically no photos of that. so there you have it! a Vash is built. check my IG for the fantastic photos wild momo photography took.
