Animal husbandry firsts
I’m sorry to say that Bad Chicken has to be culled. Her escapist tendencies put her in the path of a Bad Dog. She’s not really bleeding, but she’s in shock and has a large area of exposed muscle.
So, I’m sharpening my hatchet and prepping the hot water, hoping to get finished & cleaned up before I have to pick Phia up from school. I’m not scared to dispatch my first animal, but I’m not happy about it either. Wish me luck.
Update: it went well. Quick and humane, and cleanup was done well before Phia came home.
