something something the surge in superhero media over the past 5 - 7 years is a result of our increasingly chaotic and depressing world causing people to seek larger-than-life, save-the-world narratives in order to feel some sort of hope, power, and security as people combat the overwhelming weight of modern life (socioeconomic/racial disparity, poverty, class inequality, civil and human rights violations, etc), and hollywood/disney, one of the key maintainers of these burdens, uses this to its advantage to make money off of peoples' hopelessness. something something thats fucked up
