Five minute Friday - reader is five minutes late to her shift at the hospital and gets assigned with the nerdy and clumsy yet very attractive doctor Jake Jensen, which the nurses usually try to avoid because his clumsiness causes them more work. She'll thank the heavens for being five minutes late after that shift.
“You’re late.” you wince as the day supervisor looks you off with a passive smirk and hands you a chart. “You’re with Dr. Jensen tonight, have fun.”
In her mirth, she starts to grab her bags and ends her shift, punching out in the computer before she stands upright, casting her gaze down the hall. You don’t need to know what she’s staring at, you don’t need to know who she’s looking at, to know that she’s annoyed. All the nurses are, every single one of them seem to overlook the clumsy doctor though the patients can’t get enough of him.
“It’ll be fine.” You swipe the chart from her hands and tuck it under your arm, clocking yourself into the computer system while she walks away. As you lean over and get a quick glance of any notes for the floor, a smile creeps on your face when you feel heat to your left.
“You can’t keep this up forever.” His voice, doctor Jake Jensen, comes as he sits on the edge of the desk and looks you over. “Coming in late to work with me, people are going to catch on.”
“Good evening dr. Jensen, busy night?” You step around him and reach for your favourite pen in the little holder on the desk, clicking it twice while he follows you with his eyes.
“Nurse,” he cracks a grin and steps down, scattering a small container of push pins, “shit, sorry-“
“You and me tonight, Paediatrics should be quiet.” You hummed and started writing a few things on the top of the chart, copying some information left behind by one of the other nurses. “Might be boring-“
“Have you thought about what i said?” He stepped closer, tipping his head to look over your shoulder acting as if he was reading what you were writing. “I can’t stop thinking about you. You’re driving me crazy.”
“Damn, you think after hooking up with a doctor in an on-call room he’d have his fix and leave.” You mumbled under your breath, lips quirked into a half-smile.
“I’m not done with you. I’ll never be done with you. You…” Jake pauses, his hands graze your sides as he feels you through your scrubs. “I want you, I want you so damn bad. I have never wanted anyone as much as I want you.”
“We work together, Dr. Jensen. We can’t be working on the same floor, the same unit-“
“I’m opening up a practice. I’m leaving the hospital and opening up my own clinic. I can charge what I want, I can make it cheaper for families. I can help kids more and I’ll need some nurses.”
“Are you bribing me?” You turned and stepped back, tucking the chart against your chest.
“Is it working?” He grinned in a goofy way with the same kind of smile that made the kids love him. “Am i seducing-“
His attempt to be flirtatious had been overshadowed by another chance at clumsiness, the edge of his foot had hit the bottom corner of the garbage can toppling it over.
“We can have a deep discussion at the end of our shift because what you lack on coordination, you make up for in the on-call room.”
